ALL the new accounts need ID and selfie! OMG

I have opened up 10 seller account in the last 10 days and all of them were asking ID and selfie!

Stealth dead forever!

I began being asked for ID and selfie Since 3 weeks ago. It will be likely a trend.

They’ve always been asking (especially if made on mobile) it just depends on the internal risk measures triggers

Did eBay ask you ID and selfie as soon as the seller account set up? Or after item got sold?

I can already guess what you did... but like I advise most new comers, sit down and read the stealth guide.

Expand your horizons. With that kind of mindset even if you can make the accounts, your business won't survive.

He is trying to give you good advice and an important hint - it all begins with your mindset - play it cool and smart, don't be in a rush. You need to check out old-timers' wisdom before jumping in. It's not to be mean, it's the truth. If you just continue trying your current path, you will get the same result and attract more unwanted attention from the ban department. You want to slip under the radar, not attract attention.

no selfie but accounts closing same day and I've done the same set up for yrs so I'm trying to figure out if its the phone numbers I'm using or not

How about putting up the flag of your country, that helps us a lot when giving advice. When the country flag does not show I do not usually respond with advice.

Has to be done to your device, browser, IP or phone.

My pixel 3 right now is getting hit with ID verification no matter what browser or IP I use.

While my s24 is going through without issues.

Nope, these were all aged accounts.

Only tried one registered and it got hit as well.

They are all buyer accounts.

Some have been sitting with some browsing history and some purchases.

Only recently turned into sellers.

I did not understand , do they ask for selfie on buyer accounts? or after buyer accounts have been converted into seller accounts?

They ask for it once you are about to submit a listing after going through the phone verification.

I will take a screenshot within an hour or so when I create on the pixel.

Pretty much most of my age accounts if not all of them got hit with this. New haven't been encountering as much.

I understand this happens before seller account has been opened?

according to screenshot you either have the option to provide biometric data or use the other verification option where id and bank statement is needed

that would mean brandnew seller accounts , you can try uploading ID and bank statement , it is allowed according to screenshot

For me personally, it is not worth the time on them.

I get that request before eBay upped their security protocols and anytime I would submit documents and ID. I would submit the listing after being reinstated and they would get suspended a day after.

But for others getting this, I just have a feeling it is due to their IP they are using, phone or the browser.

There are certainly reasons for this as accounts are treated differently , some with verification , others without , some others just get suspended , some others get suspended after first or second listing without any prior verification and without request for any

Ya, it is just random. But for the OP thinking that stealth is dead, nope.

Probably just something in the resources he is using that is triggering it.

If you choose non selfie to verify, you need to upload a bank account statement, ID, AND bank account need to be linked to verify the micro deposit. I rather not choosing this option because I don't want to waste my bank account if the verification did not pass.

I got this notification last year that they may ask for a selfie for verification. Mercari is a much smaller marketplace but they require it for all users at sign up. I think if we are rational, and knowing how much things change in a 5 year timeframe, it will likely be mandatory in some fashion for all new users.

It might even be part of MC011 verification.

you can get bank accounts fairly easily no? lot of ones accessible in the usa

This is nuts. I am getting these verification crap screens literally on almost every new account now.

Doesn't matter what device, IP or phone number used. I am getting like 1 out of like 20 accounts successful.

This better not be the case moving forward from now on, otherwise it's going to be a utter pain to deal with.

I am in the same situation. Almost all accounts need selfie. Otherwise accounts got low limit and was suspended within 30 minutes.

Ok, so update on this. This is after 12:00PM.

I am reusing those same numbers that caused those verifications but with different names and addresses. Same IP source and listings are going through.

But can't guarantee they will stay up or get suspended two days later.

Either way, all I know is. It seems like it is eBay screwing around with their system.

Some how in the mornings it appears to be worse. No matter if the details match a real person or if they are made up. They still get hit with a verification request.
