15 year account suspended
 

Been a while since I posted here, I didn't have any ebay issues recently. But a few days ago I got that dreaded your account has been suspended email. I tried to call customer service and beg my case but nothing they treat you like a scammer.

The reason given for my account being suspended is 'abusive buyer'. Last thing that happened on my account was I had a problem with a parcel and had opened a case and got a refund. Few days later ban hammer. Last time I had opened a case before this was years ago. So wasn't like I was constantly opening cases. I used this account for buying and selling (I realise now..thats wrong)

Seems incredibly harsh. I can't belive my account is gone for good, is there any chance to get it back?

If you say you were hacked could that work? Thanks

It was a laptop. Tracking showed it was delivered but I think it must have been stolen as was gone when I got home. I guess ebay didn't believe me and yet they give me a refund.

If tracking shoes delivered then seller protection kicks in ,seller gets to keep the money.
Ebay lost money refunding you out of its own pocket,so .
Ebay is protecting itself,it could happen again as your neighbor hood is not safe or you are not doing a good job securing your home?

the main mistake here is to buy such items on an older ebay account that is able to sell

ebay do not do any checks on buyers so nothing would stop you from opening a new buyer account under any details you like and you can open cases there without problems or even do chargebacks

but a potential seller account is gone

Ebay has a way of tracking you when you sign on ,what you browse and what you buy,if you are using your regular device,then it must be you.
Paypal does the same ,

Hello, I'm very sorry about this, it happened to my sister's account, it was 8 years old. 345 sales made, 98% positive Facebook, maybe 27 purchases.
never an open case in sales or purchases.
I received the email informing me that I couldn't sell any more and that I was a danger to the community, I didn't understand that...

what did I do:
1. I opened several tickets and they did not respond
2. I called twice and asked what the problem was and they told me it was under the seller's standard. In this case I simply lost 8 years of a large account.

What I recommend:
If you need to continue selling on eBay, get a new stealth account to sell, if you want to make purchases too, find a second account.

the case you described is only possible if high risk / expensive items were sold otherwise ebay tend to send warnings about low performance for several months before taking action and even that is usually a reduction of selling limits but if bigger amounts are involved they just clip the shop regardless of age

Hi,

I would recommend to call them again!

One of my accounts got suspended "too many undelivered items" .

I kept calling them back and on the fourth time honorable British man
re instated My account ( be advised it was 100% legit eBay business account)

so there is more than one case,latest is the laptop?
most buyers will contact USPS,and file a FBI report.
Unfortunately since tracking shows delivered,USPS would do nothing.
if seller insured the package,it wont get the money either

I mean in the whole history of this 15 years account I maybe opened a couple cases. This was ther first case I had opened in maybe about a year or two. I don't know about those things as I am UK.

Sadly no I was very naive and didn't really know about this stuff I thought only if I did something wrong I could be banned :(

It is possible Ebay has a certain amount it is willing to lose per account,so if you exceed that amount,it is goodbye !

This seems likely, as there was not alot of cases in a row or returns or refunds. It was this case and then last thing I got a refund on was about a year ago approx.

I did get some interesting information though from an agent after most say they can't tell you anything. The agent revealed the seller of the laptop had appealed the case and as I result I got banned. When speaking to an agent they were going through my account and asking about previous refunds I received in the whole history of the account including things that cost £2, that I didn't even open a case and it was the seller that has made a mistake when selling, can't beleive they take this into account. Crazy.

Yes I just meant we don't have usps or fbi here but I guess the equivelent may apply

sadly, it's hard to predict the amount of buyer returns/cases that lead to ban but it appears this threshold has been reached.

on a side note, I use different eb accounts for selling and buying to avoid this kind of potential issue....

When you get suspended from selling sometimes they still allow for buying. Is that not possible the inverse? I have to imagine getting suspended from buying is pretty hard, unless you're doing chargebacks.

I don't see why you cannot speak to trust & safety and at the very least have you blocked on the buying side with ability to sell? If its a 15 year old account with active selling history usually they will be forgiving.

you can have selling privilege banned or buyer privilege banned,
A woman who lives in rural Mexico buys cheap trinklets on Ebay,sellers would just send by first class mail with no tracking and often they are stolen,so she would file INR.
Ebay suspends her buying privilege as she is a hazard to sellers.

I called and must have spoke to about 20 agents, most say they can't help and hang up. One of these people said they were ebay trust and safety, was a US guy and he can't help but tells me to have a blessed day and goodbye lol.

A couple agents seemed to genuinly want to help and claimed they filed some sort of appeal that if successful I would hear back in 3 days of course 3 days passed and I hear nothing and am still banned. I am not convinced there was any appeal and it was just a different tactic used to make me give up as these times when they 'filed the appeal' I was on the phone about 20 mins just waiting for them to do their thing and 'check things on my account' etc. So yeah banned from buy and sell.

I don't believe it's possible to get this account unbanned. Gave up on it now. I just made a new account and no problems so far!

it is a circle on ebay , bots ban you => rep confirms bots' decision => other reps confirm the first rep's decision

Ebay gave you the laptop money as a courtesy,the seller did his job,he shipped with tracking,you did not receive it probably stolen,it has nothing to do with Ebay.
If seller has insured the item,USPS will deny it as tracking shows delivered.
For something as expensive like a laptop, you should do a better job ,either stay home or have it delivered to a secure place,you did none of the above .

Last year on eBay they suspended my account, it was a personal account with more than 10 years of activity (it has my real data) towards normal sales and purchases, you know things for the house and the car. In a purchase from a large store I requested a refund (the dishes arrived broken) the company responded and sent the refund, days later eBay suspended my account for being a risk to the community
never asked for refunds
And the products he sold were antiques that he bought in second-hand stores.

sometimes just one big request for refund can trip the system to auto-ban for risk protection....sadly

in my passage particles what I describe above has happened to me in both cases
accounts with high-risk and expensive sales
accounts with household products under $35, perhaps most of them under $10
