ID Verification -> MC999 After
Hi all. To start, my account was completely legitimate, with all my own details. I’d never had an eBay account before, although two other household members have accounts dating back to around 2005-2015 respectively, with 1k+ feedback on one account and no issues on either.
I decided to opena business account to start selling, but received an MC999 suspension about 20 minutes later for activity that supposedly put the community at risk. After calling eBay and explaining what I planned to sell, avg price etc, the agent reinstated my account.
As I started to sell more, I received another restriction (no MC, just listings were down in the meantime) requiring me to upload ID and confirm all tracking numbers were added. This was resolved after a week of waiting, and my listings were restored. I also provided my National Insurance number when I reached the UK selling threshold later on.
However a few days ago, about 2 mins after selling an item for £40, I received an email tilted 'Action required: Verify your identity', which noted it was due to concerns about account activity, potentially including identity inconsistencies or links to previously suspended accounts. It mentioned 'Your ability to list and sell in certain categories is limited. See "Categories with Limits" below for details.'
I completed verification through Veriff using my passport and facial scan which seemed to pass fine, but immediately afterwards received a MC999, this time stating my account was permanently suspended because eBay 'couldn’t verify my identity'.
I’ve called eBay once without success. Does the fact that this suspension specifically cites identity verification, rather than general risk to the community that is usually in MC999 suspensions, give me any better chance of reinstatement? I know the chances are low, especially after a second suspension, but I haven’t found many similar posts that mention identity verification and MC999 per say.
Didn't have a single open case and had positive feedback all-around.
