| aspkin | 11-21-2007 03:51 AM | That's what I do; I register an account... and start listing right away. It asks for my seller information after my auction is ready to go, and that's it. Very weird. I used Gmail I think. I'll try another account in a bit. |

| aspkin | 11-21-2007 04:34 AM | Well, I just created a new account a few minutes ago and I got the same warning you got leonid5000. Quote:
You can not submit your listing due to the following problems
Attention!
We noticed that you chose to offer credit card as a payment option. To confirm that you can support this process, please fax a copy of your most recent merchant processing statement to (866) 309-6493.
Please include your eBay user ID, phone number and email address in the fax so that we can contact you.
While we confirm your merchant credit card account, you can continue listing items on eBay with PayPal as the payment method. PayPal is convenient to use and offers buyers and sellers protection against fraud, chargebacks, and theft of financial data.
| It doesn't seem to affect accounts created before yesterday.
Have you tried faxing receipts leonid5000? |
| aspkin | 11-21-2007 04:46 AM | eBay is being evil... geez |
| leonid5000 | 11-21-2007 04:50 AM | ok here we go im not crazy after all. Aspkin please contact me in privet. |
| guangxipku | 11-21-2007 09:08 AM | What can we do next? |
| aspkin | 11-21-2007 09:12 AM | We're working on it. :) |
| Chris Hanson | 11-21-2007 11:22 AM | I knew this was coming soon..I told everyone this was going to happen soon. They are gonna want SS#'s next by the new year watch.. You all betta not depend on Ebay |
| aspkin | 11-21-2007 11:52 AM | ****ing soothsayer Chris, you're killing eBay! :p |
| ivegotinfo | 11-21-2007 11:57 AM | coudlnt you then create a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ account in like canada then?
register a business (to forward your mail) in a canadian city
register a phone number in same canadian city
hmmm oh yeah.. bank account / credit card...that i dont know..... |
| octagon69 | 11-21-2007 12:14 PM | Its time for google or someone to bring some competition to ebay.
You guys better open an account at a different site or get your own ecommerce site and pay for Ad words or something like I do.
Or only accept money orders until 10 feedback and then offer Bidpay. Or pray someone sues ebay to allow more types of payment options. |
| imjustme | 11-21-2007 12:23 PM | You can make a Canadian account with a US virtual card, no problem. I've done it before.. |
| Chris Hanson | 11-21-2007 12:32 PM | See the thing is, Ebay doesnt care if they get sued, because the money they will make from breaking the law will out do the cost of lawsuit. So say ebay makes 100 million from breaking the law in past 6 months and gets sued for 40 million, they will pay that with no problem becuase they will will make 60 million profit.. |
| vers0 | 11-21-2007 05:37 PM | What happens if you offer both Paypal and Creditcards on a new account? Will the message still appear? |
| vers0 | 11-21-2007 05:44 PM | This is what does not make sense to me. I would think a merchant account number is as confidential as a CC#. Why would eBay have you enter you CC number digitally so a human could not get this information easily but have people fax the merchant information. This does not sound right. Wouldn't you think they would have people fill out a secure online for for this sensitive information. I think eBay is all wet on this one and will get screwed for this. Are you all actually going to trust your merchant account information to a perfect stranger. I see scams happening from this. I do not doubt this is happening but can't believe this faxing will continue....I just hope most new ebayers tell ebay to screw off. This will hurt eBay in the end. |
| leonid5000 | 11-21-2007 06:08 PM | they are not asking to send them merchant account number in the note.. They just say send us
recent merchant processing statement. On most of this statements it dont say the number. Not on the ones i have seen. And then they say While we confirm your merchant credit card account.. Iven if you give them real merchant number there is no way legally they can confirm it.
To confirm that you can support this process, please fax a copy of your most recent merchant processing statement to (866) 309-6493.
Please include your eBay user ID, phone number and email address in the fax so that we can contact you.

| Jonas | 11-21-2007 07:47 PM | If you don't have a merchant account, you wouldn't even have a statement to begin with, but you can probably find one to copy on the internet. |

> end of auction- send your own invoice from wherever- only maybe 2 out of 100 transactions in last couple weeks did folks send the funds to the @paypal address- i simply explained- server error.
> I asked them to please CANCEL your pyt- as i will never receive it. They did, and i then got the funds. |

It's like Modee said here before.. Paypal and eBay are linking now no matter what. They truly are one and the same company now. What I do anyway is just create a brand new (⊗⊗⊗⊗) PP account to go with a single eBay account. |

The money will be stuck and you'll never be able to get it, and the customer won't be able to cancel his payment at this point. |
| koalawash | 11-22-2007 07:05 PM | Nope leonid, you're wrong.. I accept payments into the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ PP and nothing happens. I'm sure if disputes arose or something like that there's a good chance they would limit the account, but they won't limit it just because you're using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info. There's no way for them to tell! |

| Chris Hanson | 11-22-2007 11:58 PM | Exactly............ |
| vers0 | 11-23-2007 12:05 AM | 8 weeks on 3 ⊗⊗⊗⊗ paypal accounts and have not been limited yet. Gonna see how long they last |
| ebayhateluv | 11-23-2007 02:00 AM | got ppal accts in all 5 of my kids names, theyre ages from 3-11, still not taken down.. only run couple hundred at a time through though.. |

I've transferred nearly $10,000 on one account over 3 months that way and never got limited. Not even asked for a copy of ID card, which I couldn't provide because they're all in ⊗⊗⊗⊗ names :D |
| leonid5000 | 11-23-2007 03:23 AM | i don't know what you are people doing but in my case this just don't work. Just when you are happy and got $ on ⊗⊗⊗⊗ account they will limit you. It happened to me many times before.. thats why i just dont do it any moore. maybe because im dealing with allot of $.. to risky...
I was helping lots of people in my email and there where allot of them who had $ stuck in payplal |
| ebayhateluv | 11-23-2007 05:49 AM | NO, I just got too Brave and TOO Greedy, I had 8 diff ebay accts linked to 1 ppal, had too much cash coming in, it was fine with 2, then 3, then well.. you get the picture, MY FAULT!(Forgot for a moment i was dealing with the big monster that holds peoples money, and lives off the MILLIONS of dollars on hold, interest | | All times are GMT -5.
