Default Buying on eBay:Will using EBay checkout link a/c's?

I noticed that after making a purchase on eBay and checking out with ebay checkout with my new email address, my paypal mailing address appeared on ebay. My "newly created" ebay account has totally different address and that address did not belong on ebay. Am I now linked? ?

I only use it to pay sellers fees but I think I gotta stop doing even that now, maybe send a money order or something bc Ebay is changing their policies everytime..

CPUGEEK...when you used eBay checkout, did any of the banned addresses show up in your shipping addy's on eBay? That's what happened to me and I think it linked me.

Sure did! Both times..

and it's funny too because I paid for an item with paypal and it had to be shipped to my confirmed address, but they used my ebay address instead of my paypal confirmed address .

I think if the seller uses a different check out system, it's ok to BUY and pay with Paypal. I recently made a purchase with a seller who had an Andale Checkout and did just fine.

Only problem with that last one is...you don't even know what type of checkout it is until you've pretty much gone through it, and by that time you're committed.

So if you don't use ebay checkout how do you know the sellers paypal address to send payment??

I've got a paypal account that has been set up only a month ago with a brand new current account, (the old one was limited). Over the weekend ebay suspended my account after 6 years of buying and selling because i was linked to a suspended user, the suspended account was set up early last year to sell pirate copies of windows xp, but ebay swiftly suspended that account but didn't touch my main account.

So this weekend i followed all the instructions on your site to get a new account.

I've looked into my paypal account, my old address is still there, if i buy an item using my new ebay account using my old paypal account will my old real address come up in ebay checkout?
If so i'll need to delete the old address in paypal to my new false address? but if i do that my address will be unconfirmed with no proper way to confirm it?
This is so confusing,

Thanks for any advice.

Do we have enough evidence on this yet to put a final-"ish" word on it? If paying through checkout will in fact give the information to ebay to link you, we should probably assume that ANY kind of auction payment that isn't directly through paypal is to be avoided at all costs. That deserves to be nailed down in writing, especially since the majority of new suspendees will try to get back on asap afterward. And that usually means jumping on the fast, cheap stuff--which most of the time comes with an "immediate payment" or "paypal required" sign on it. Which as we have Bait for the trap. And most sellers don't even realize that's why they don't get bidders.

you will get linked if you make a payment while logging into paypal from ebay with the banned email. period..it happened to me twice. make payments thru paypal using the sellers email address and auction info...paypal allows you to manually plug in the info

I see. So you made your payments from a banned email then? I was under the impression that any payment made through the checkout system from a paypal account WITH that email (meaning all email addresses on the account) would create the problem. So perhaps if you just made the payment with another email address on the same account, there wouldn't be a problem?

With immediate payment and Paypal required auctions, I don't see where you have a choice in the matter. Most of the time, it's like pulling teeth to get a payment email from a seller if they have automatic checkout enabled. In my experience, most just don't understand the problem or are unwilling to compromise.

I believe this is what I did that got me banned...used the old email (had 2 registered at PP and never removed the one banned by EB a year earlier) to pay my ebay seller fees. I guess you are saying that the same thing would have happened if I had used that "tainted" email mistakenly at EB checkout.

If all emails associated with banned EB accounts are removed from PP and replaced with pristine ones that EB has already issued new accounts to, shouldn't you be fine using this method to pay?

I have to say since finding this forum three weeks ago that I am just slightly paranoid about using checkout either as a seller or buyer.

If buying can you just request that the seller send you an invoice and give them your PP email? And if selling can you leave the PP box unchecked, but put it in the text of your listing that you take PP and just request to the winning bidder that they provide their PP id at end of auction so that you can send them an invoice through PP instead of usuing EB checkout. Would doing this raise a red flag with EB?

For what it's worth, I've never had any issue receiving payments through checkout, although I rarely have had checkout set to automatic (doesn't mean people don't try to pay though). The other way around is still unsure and very much a reason for paranoia. There's no telling how many auctions I've had to pass by due to this potential problem. A lot. I know that.

Hi, in my ebay preferences i have ebay checkout switched on ?? so that my buyers can pay after the auctions end.
What happens if i switch it off?
I'm also paranoid also because i have not used ebay checkout yet for either buying or selling.
I've been on paypal, i've got rid of all banned email addresses and i've made my bogus postal address "home", does that mean i'm safe?
Thanks for any answers.

If you switch it off they can't pay automatically. But if you have paypal accepted in your TOS, they'll be able to pay anyway, especially if there's a buy it now. If you use a merchant account or any other than paypal, you can switch off, take out any mention of paypal. Send an invoice afterward.

I believe you killa I know I started another thread on this, but saw yours also they wont let you change that address shipping either what happens it back tracks you back to ebay itself and not paypal. I dont know how and why they would do this to paypal users just retarded cant use the verified address on paypal vs ebays address. damn them..

Hey guys, I'm looking to put a final nail in this once and for all. From where I sit, this has become a common question, and one that is very much a limiting factor. I started an "ultimate" thread of sorts in the Paypal forum about it. Feel free to check it out and share your theories/stories. Maybe if we put our collective heads together we can come up with an answer to it.
