Account Below Standard - Help

Hi,
My account fell below standard because of low DSR scores on Item AS Described. The account is probably 10 years old with 550 positive feedbacks. It only has 4 negative feedbacks.

I haven't been selling on this account, but it is now linked to my other account and I have limits placed on how much I can sell.

Should I just delete all accounts and start over before my account is suspended? Will this account become suspended and really create a problem? Will I reach standard performance if I just don't sell on this account for awhile?

Thank you,

Jason

1. You cant delete accounts, so if you wanted to start off fresh you need to come up with completely new info for literally everything. This isnt a knock on you, but you sound very inexperienced, so you may want to buy the book and read it thoroughly.

2. I would not bail quite yet. Try to get the buyers that left negatives to remove them. Refund shipping, work something out with them, etc, but do what you can, since you do have a nice amount of feedback.

3. Sell some items that are guaranteed to get you 5 Star DSRs

4. Do the right thing on eBay. Dont sell f.ake stuff. Tell the truth on your listing. List as described. Ship items immediately with tracking. All the obvious stuff.

Deleting accounts will do nothing if you just plan on reopening accounts with the same information. They have you on record permanently.

IF I don't sell on this account anymore, will it get suspended or will it go back to standard or above standard ratings?

SweetPea 08-10-2011 12:25 PM

Is there a way you can salvage the account? You do have 3 months to bring up your scores before the will restrict you. Once they do, you will be able to buy, but not sell on any accounts. At that point, you will have to go stealth with different info, as stated in this forum. Once you start selling again, you will have to make changes and improve your weak area or you will just keep getting restricted. Good luck! :pop2:

I have like 10 low 1-2 DSR for Item as described. I have like 550 positive reviews, 3 negative reviews and over 1000 sales, but I guess that doesn't matter.

What I'm thinking. If I close this account and then open another account - they can't link the new account to a suspended account because my account isn't suspended yet. Its just below standard. Would this work?

Or, should I just sell off of my other account and leave this account alone until the problems eventually clear up...or will ebay suspend this account eventually? My other account is linked to this sub standard account.

All I'm trying to do is run a side business selling discount appliances and eBay treats you like a crook.

SweetPea 08-10-2011 07:14 PM

Like I said, it doesn't matter what you do until you improve the DSRs. I only had 4 in the area of shipping time. They watch for 3 months then you are restricted if it doesn't improve.

It appears you might be restricted since 10 is a high number. If you start another account using the SAME information, it will be restricted from selling as well.

See if you can salvage the account before you do anything. If you are pretty sure it will be restricted, I would create a stealth and let it mature while you work on your current account that way it will be up and ready to go if you need it.

Do you need the link for the stealth guide? If you plan on going stealth, trust me, you will need it! :pop2:

jaymay75 08-10-2011 08:39 PM

Thanks for the info. Its not restricted from selling yet, but I do have selling limits on it. I'll try to get the DSRs improved. If I don't sell on it, will it improve over time?

Thank you,

Jason

For something that bad i would just dump the account and do a stealth one.

Even if you do bring it up a bit and can sell. You will never likely get it high enough to be a TRS and get the discount on fees.

I would eliminate the stress and start over. BUT only after you learn some things about auctions.

How are you a 10yr seller and still allow yourself to describe items inaccurately like that. you said all your faults are in the as described areas. That is not good.

Get the book as mentioned above and read it 10 times if need be. Then research these forums for more advice. THEN go to ebay and read the rules and such before you even list another item. Making another stealth account now would be worthless unless you get all of the mentioned items down pat.

jaymay75 08-11-2011 06:55 AM

I only have 4 negative reviews over 1000+ transactions. I sell small appliances. Sometimes the appliances were sold with dents, scratches which were described in the listing. The customer doesn't read that, purchases the item and then leaves a low DSR saying item wasn't as described. This isn't my fault. Of course, once they leave that feedback, it can't be changed or removed.

2-3 of my negative reviews occurred the same way. Customer purchase something that is as is, doesn't realize it and leaves negative feedback without contacting me.

I always take care of the customer, I always refund pay to return, etc. - but once the feedback is left, there is nothing I can do right?

The customer can't change those DSR scores now right??

SweetPea 08-11-2011 09:32 AM

Feedback can be changed. Read the feedback page on Ebay's site page. The buyer has to agree to it, but you need to work it out with them first. Do not send them a revision notice first. I read somewhere that Ebay can revise the DSR, but only in rare cases. I don't know how true that is. I agree with KingRay about never having the top rated seller/powerseller status. That would be very hard, if not impossible. :pop2:

Here are my DSR stats. So is this impossible to fix?

Transactions: 623
See your reports
Average detailed seller ratings Your average Low ratings
(1s and 2s)
Item as described 4.57 2.41% (15)
Communication 4.86 0.48% (3)
Shipping time 4.84 0.80% (5)
Shipping and handling charges 4.99 0.00% (0)

SweetPea 08-11-2011 11:40 AM

Wow, that item as described is bad news. It has higher standards than the other 3. You will have to have A LOT more sales to get that up. I think the threshold is 1% for that category. It is a matter of time, because you only have 3 months to improve. The problem is they have probably limited you, so you won't be able to sell enough to get that score up by then. I would create that stealth account soon because you will have a selling limit of 10/$1000 for 90 days if it is a personal account.

yes that is very bad. Actually all of them but shipping charges are bad.

As to you saying you list what is wrong but they dont see it. That just means you need to put it in bold in its own paragraph or something because what you are doing isnt cutting it at all.

I would do what the other poster said now and get a backup account ready to go. As described is one of the most looked at DSR's by ebay from what I have seen. And that is the one you are rated so bad in .

You need to really look at how you list your items on your next account or this one when trying to fix it. When people are not seeing what you wright about damage is because a you have either hidden it in the text where its just there if they read it all or you are intentionally making it less noticeable so you get top dollar. Either way you need to change it 100% to make it work for you. Just a fact we all have to deal with.

with 1000 feedback it will take forever for you to correct that number. Probably several thousand more to just up it to 4.9 or so. I have one account with about the same feedback and it has taken nearly 300 DSR's to up it from 4.88 to 4.99. That is with NO 1's or 2's at all.

So I have another account that I created and linked this account. That account is in good standing with a $5000 limit, which I can work with. My question, if I shut down the main account before it gets suspended, would the other account stay live and active and can I keep selling off of that one??

No it will go down also.... Im sorry to say :(

rsot 08-12-2011 09:17 AM

I would make new stealth accounts and try to salvage these old accounts with small listings that will sell well and get you positive feedback. Until eb ay drops the ax on you, you aren't done.

jaymay75 08-12-2011 10:35 AM

What is the easiest thing to sell to improve DSR?

rsot 08-12-2011 10:45 AM

Easiest thing to sell is my idea - my cut is 20% =) ha

If you can't find your answer on the forums, you might want to take Rsot up on the offer

jaymay75 08-12-2011 11:40 AM

I tried selling iphone screen protectors - local pick up for $.1 each. Problem is, I can only sell 84 of them. This isn't going to do much for my DSRs at all....

SweetPea 08-12-2011 12:00 PM

You need to be careful of feedback manipulation. Are you limited on how many items you can sell? Do the math. If you sell 84 more items that will give you a total of 707 sales. With that amount, to have 1%, you can only have 7 low DSRs for Item not described. Move on, there is no way you are saving this account.
