| Stonecold | 06-09-2013 09:38 AM | Suspended issues My story starts 3 years ago, when my best friend of 20 years sold over $50K on ebay in 2 months....I had been selling for 10 years with little or no problems...well, when he hit that 50K mark, ebay suspended not only his account, but the accounts of every persons computer he'd ever been on..that was about 70! Me, my ex-wife, his ex-girlfriend etc...it took me about 10 days of non-stop calling to get a call back from e-bay.
I had 20 seller accounts at that time and after we talked, and I explained how and what had happened....the ebay guy wanted to re-instate just 1 account....I did some more talking and we agreed on 5 being re-instated....By the way...the person on the phone with me at the time was Matt Halprin, who is now VP of trust and safety, but was not at that time...just a higher up trust and safety guy......Anyway, life goes back to being fine for almost 3 years, then out of the blue, boom, all my accounts are limited....for being linked to a suspended account.
So, I tell them yes, I'm linked to lots of suspended accounts, that was our deal 3 years ago. ...So, they re-instate 1 out of my 6 current seller accounts...and the one they re-instate is by far, the newest of all my accounts...about 1 year old....some of my others were 13 years old! So, again, I start making calls telling them, nicely, how insane it is to limit an account that has been selling for 13 years, and then re-instate an account that is only a year old??? So, then I get an e-mail saying I can appeal this after 90 days.....but 90 days of selling on one account will kill me, so I go back to calling and e-mailing.
I got a trust and safety who agreed with my position and after looking into my case, actually called me back on the phone and told me he made a bunch of notes and is forwarding it on to the guys who make these decisions. He said they will get back to me in 3 business days...which will be this wednesday.....I'm confident that if I can get on the phone with them, I can convince them to give me some of my accounts back opened....I did it once....if I can't get them on the phone, I'm probably screwed, because, they can be much more heartless from behind a screen.
Anyway, if anyone can learn anything from this...I feel good......And by the way......and this may be stating the obvious.....but if you call ebay and someone answers with a Asian sounding accent, just hang up and dial again...their calls are randomly routed all over the world, and I have learned the hard way....you get NO HELP from those reps....they are cut and dried...you're screwed and that's that! The people in Utah are much more sympathetic to a story. I'll re-post and tell you what happens to me by wednesday. |
| GreenBean | 06-09-2013 10:48 AM | When you post next time SPACE the sentences so it is easier to read.
We'll await your results.
In the mean time, read about becoming stealth for something for the future. |
| Stonecold | 06-09-2013 11:51 AM | Yes, I just bought a new account yesterday from a seller here to see how complicated it is.
I 'm not too much of a techie....so I don't know how to keep IP's separate etc....but I'm on the fast track to learning.
also Once I get this new account and list the 1st item...( after a few weeks) won''t they suspend me until I do a phone verification?
I' have no idea how to get around that yet, but maybe the person Im buying account from will tell me?? |
Your story may have started 3 years ago but your STEALTH journey begins now. You bought a new account - have you made sure that you are NOT linked to old accounts?
If you can, speak to your seller but you must learn stealth NOW.
All the best. |
| Stonecold | 06-10-2013 03:50 PM | I haven't even took possession of it yet.
but before I log into it, I will be 100% sure I'm not messing it up.
this one is to test the water and my competence level.
then if I do OK, it's full speed with another 10 of them!
I'm in a holding pattern until I hear or don't hear back from the Risk management team before wednesday. |

I wouldnt hold my breath for great news - I hope for you but...pp can be shifty |

:heh: |
| Stonecold | 06-13-2013 05:14 PM | So....the boys at eBay told me today, they are going to keep me limited on 5 out of my 6 seller accounts until 30 days, then I can appeal and if I'm clean, probably get some or all of my other 5 accounts back to selling.
They say they want a "history" built. So...in typical eBay fashion...they limit a 13 year old account to watch me build history on a 6 month old account???
Has to be the most successful company run by idiots in the history of the USA. |
| GreenBean | 06-13-2013 07:44 PM | They also lie.
Keep going with learning stealth.
Do not rely on their word.
:nono: |
| newjerseymax | 06-13-2013 09:06 PM | You must be a pretty good talker... Most of the time you wont get as far as you have... |
| Stonecold | 06-13-2013 11:34 PM | Well, I am a pretty good communicator, but I also have done nothing and these
poor T&S guys squirm on the phone because they quickly realize that they are
defending a pretty much indefensible position.....but trying none the less. So,
July 5th is my new date for possible change....but in the meantime, I'm getting
all the stealth accounts ready! |

:juggle: |
| Stonecold | 06-17-2013 11:00 PM | Amen...I've been dealing with ebay, full time, for 14 years...I'm waaaaay beyond trusting more than 10% of what they say |
10% is giving a lot of credit... |
| joesshooze | 06-27-2013 10:02 AM | OP would you call EB on my behalf? LOL, You are awesome. But GB is right "EB & PP lie big time".
Told me to pay $600 in fees and they would reinstate all. BIG LIE, me loose the $$$.
Go stealth for the future. |

Go stealth for the future. | i'm curious why you believed them? |
| joesshooze | 07-01-2013 02:54 PM | It was my original eb acct. I had no knowledge of any of eb's rotten, underhanded practices. Wouldn't you if you had a 13 year old acct. with over 300 + transactions. Never an issue until some AH accused me of selling replica Nikes. They were not! They were my personal shoes that were bought at Footlocker w/ receipt. Sooooo... |
| Stonecold | 07-01-2013 05:47 PM | If I got a 13 year old account suspended for selling a pair of shoes that I had a store receipt for...I'd bet both my farm, and yours, I could get that account back up and running. There must be more to that story? |
| Stonecold | 07-01-2013 05:50 PM | P.S. My appeal date is the 5th, so I'm doing it on the 6th, but in the meantime, I sold my
1st stealth item yesterday (yay)....and I'm listing 2 more tomorrow....will listing 4 items a week
get me in trouble?.....this stealth account is 3 weeks old. |
@stonecold, looks like you are building your account slowly and understanding the process |

Good Work |
| Stonecold | 07-08-2013 12:32 PM | OK...e-mailed my appeal in saturday..heard back from them today....here below is their
response....they basically flipped me off...so, good thing I have 4 stealth accounts
so far and have some a few things on 2 of them:
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the selling restriction on your accounts. My name is Allen and I am happy to review your account and assist you with your appeal.
As you know, over the past 30 days, we have been monitoring your incoming Feedback, Detailed Seller Ratings, and any customer complaints. I've taken a look at your account and see that your sales are doing well. In addition to great sales, you have also consistently provided positive selling experiences to your buyers and have helped eBay be a great place to buy and sell.
Because of your recent performance, it has been decided to adjust the selling limit on your account. Again, these limits are present on every account and are used to ensure you are continuing to focus on creating great transactions for your customers.
The current limit on your account has been adjusted to the following:
You can now sell up to 200 items monthly or up to $15,000.00 monthly.
(Keep in mind that this includes multiple quantity listings which can greatly influence this number.)
If you do reach one of these limits during the course of a month you will be unable to list additional items or increase the price or quantity of your active items until some of your items end without a winning bidder or until the 1st of the next calendar month, (If you are still exceeding the limit at the first of the next calendar month your selling activity will continue to be blocked.)
If you do reach the selling limit on your account and want to further increase your sales, we request that you please work within the new limit for at least 30 days. Once that time frame has expired (8/8/13), please reply to this message and we will conduct an additional review to see if adjustments are appropriate.
We hope that you will continue to use this selling limit to your advantage and focus on succeeding with your current sales. We value you as a seller and hope to work with you in order to establish a strong selling history and successful business relationship.
Unfortunately, we are unable to reinstate any other accounts at this time.
Thanks,
eBay |
At least you have some selling limits to work with - not bad - sucks but you got some leeway |
| GreenBean | 07-08-2013 07:30 PM | Still alive.
That is good.
Implement stealth.
Use that to beat ebay.

Go stealth for the future. | Terrible generic lies - dont expect ever to be reinstated for high dollar figures owed...even if you pay. |
| Stonecold | 07-16-2013 05:16 PM | OK...turns out the story wasn't over.....so, after they sent me the above e-mail, I fired off
an e-mail telling them that since I was such a great guy like they said in their message,
why would they not reinstate my old, in some cases very cold, accounts?
About 2 days later I got this reply........
We would be happy to review your related accounts to see if the selling restrictions can be removed. We ask that you provide us with the account ID's that you would like to use to sell.
Once we receive the above information we can review the accounts to see if additional selling activity can be allowed.
Thanks,
eBay
So...I name the 7 names they took from me....no reply after about 4 days...so I fire off
my same message with my 7 names......then, today, 2 days later, out of the blue I get
telephone call from ebay and this guy ends up giving me all my accounts back, except
that they all have a 100/5000 limit....but I don't care about that, because I only do about
$12K a month, spread out.....so. my persistence paid off....that and the fact that I did
nothing to cause this really....no VERO or anything like that. The best thing to come out
of all of it, is that I now have 4 stealth accounts and have sold $1800 on them so far, so
the next time ebay screws me...and we all know that's just a matter of time...I'll be
ready without missing a beat. THANKS TO ALL YOU HAVE OFFERED WISDOM AND
ADVICE!...GREAT HELP!! | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:22 AM. | |
