Recently Suspended !! Advice would be Lovely !!

Hey, I might be a special case on these forums in the sense that my relationship with eBay and PayPal ended due to me being too nice.

Basically, I've been with eBay / PayPal for over 3 years now, around 100 feedback, 100% positive.

One day I bought a gift voucher from some dude in China. Received it, but had a problem, so contacted him on Skype. We got chatting, he seemed pretty nice, and said he had a problem with PayPal.

He said his account was suspended due to him being the victim of a scammer, and asked if he could use my account, just to receive payments from his eBay sales. Perhaps the worst decision I've ever made in regards to eBay / PayPal - i said yes.

Money started coming in, and i made a few masspayments back to, well apparently his brother.

Then one day when paying my own eBay fees, I was notified that my PayPal account had become limited.

This was due to over 650GBP entering my account - yup, thanks to this other seller.

They asked me to complete a few steps to lift the limitations. Did those, phoned customer support, "your account will be back to normal within 3 days"

Ahh good news, carried on my daily business, then BAM - 41 emails - each the same - ebay listing removed , ebay listing removed

Apparently what had happened is this guy had broken some rule with his own listings, i think Mis-categorization of Digitally Delivered Goods.

He was banned from eBay and automatic refunds were made from PayPal from my account, that's right with my money !!

It gets worse, because of this, PayPal immediately closed my account.

I was left in debt to PayPal of over £1500. So I phoned support, and told them what happened. Spoke to a senior guy, very understanding, put a hold on the masspayments that i made to the seller, and said there was a good chance they would be reversed. He also said to contact the police about this guy.

Things were looking better !! Until - email - because of activity in your PayPal account, we have closed your eBay account !!

Now I havent phoned eBay yet - but I spoke to another senior adviser for PayPal today - who told me there was no chance of getting my account reinstated Even in light of the events. I told him it was closed at the first hurdle, and I had no chance to explain what was going on. He said I would be truly missed as a customer etc etc, but I didnt really get anywhere.

Now I would be very greatful if someone who knew the eBay / PayPal system well could advise me on if there is a chance I could get the accounts back up and running !!

I kind of need both !!

I could definitely argue that I was a victim of fraud, who's only fault had been slight naivety - but even then I was doing a goodwill gesture.

I could argue that I have never previously been in trouble with either parties.

I could also argue, that a mere few weeks ago, i received a letter from eBay, citing me as one of their 'special' sellers, giving me a special phone number, and an eBay coupon.

This obviously implied i was a valued customer..

Again, any advice would be lovely !!

Thanks for Reading !!

Not trying to be mean or anything but that has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of anyone ever doing on ebay or paypal. I'd say your pretty much helpless on this one. Your going to have a hard time convincing people that you were that gullible to fall for something like that. Your best bet is to start over with new accounts.

yes thank you, i realise it was a mistake.

so i guess no one's had any first hand experience of this ?

i just thought eBay / PayPal would realise that I personally, have done nothing morally wrong, or broken any rules.

after all, the people i spoke to sounded like they wanted to reinstate me, but physically couldnt

they said the rules are always changing, plus theres a chance you could apply to reuse the same email address after 180 days

technicalities aside here, I (me) am innocent

yeah I've never heard of a situation like this before. I know someone whos accounts where compromised due to loosing a book with all their account usernames and passwords a few years ago. They where told they couldn't help and basically that they owed the money. How did you send them the money? You add their bank account to your paypal?

aspkin 10-07-2008 03:24 PM

Yeah, you're basically screwed. If you can get some money back from Chinese guy's account you'll be lucky, but most likely not. It's best to move on, you will never get your eBay account back, trust me on this.

Start reading the forums, try eBay Stealth and get started with a new account.

Good luck!

I think that the only person on this forum that would have any chance of helping you get your accounts back would be Modee. And even then, it's be a slim-to-none shot.

aspkin is right - it's time to go "stealth". Let us know if you get your money back and how you fare.

If you want a high-level overview of what you should do to correctly create new eBay/PP accounts, check this out. Read the whole thread and follow the links in the first post.

If you want more detail, I seriously recommend you purchase the eBay Stealth ebook. There's a TrialPay method for getting the ebook "free" if you go through the eBay Stealth - Suspended eBay and Paypal Account Guide site.

'Innocent' in the eyes of paypal, no way. Innocent in your own eyes, maybe.
Have heard of scams like this and paypal only cares for paypal. Sorry for that.
What you must realize is that many a paypal staffer will say anything to make you think they care. Trust me, paypal inc do not give a toss for you.

Um, lemme see, I call total bull**** on this story.... Is there a full moon here? Please, stop the proliferation of genes and yes, Wal-Mart is for you, not Ebay and PayPal. GEEZ! There is more to this story than what is being typed and if not, you should just crawl under a moving freight train in case you decide to spawn.

Quasi_Mojo 10-08-2008 03:44 PM

HIRAM_NJ, let's try to be civil.

The only wrong question is the one that is not asked.

I think you can dropped the debt since it's fraud, and move on to the new account, read over the forum, get your new ebay and paypal account to start your selling again.
