Help me understand this MC999

Hi,
So I opened recently 2 stealth accounts, Both exactly the same way.
A few days ago I listed an item on one of the accounts,
at the end of the process of the listing, eBay asked me a phone number to confirm my identity [ordinary request for 1st listing every time, right?]
I confirmed my identity the listing was confirmed and I sold few items.
Then I did the same on another account [same listing], but eBay didn't ask me for a phone number to verify my identity.
A few hours later I got an MC999.
Why do you think that happened? only because of the phone number?
I think that happened to me before with another account.

Your numbers got linked to your old account by the looks of it

I'm sorry but nothing got linked cause nothing was similar to other accounts I have.
There are 2 possibilities, either the listing caused the MC999 or the phone number [which they didn't ask for].

MC999 is becoming more common if you list too quickly on accounts, simple as that. Account creation as well does play a factor.

and the accounts were 1 month old.
I believe I got the MC999 because of the lack of phone number verification.
I thought maybe someone here is familiar with this kind of MC999.

Sounds like a possible glitch? Had a phone verification request not before but after my listing went up, was completely out of order and very odd. Maybe something similar occurred here.
