It's raining MC999s

everyone be careful out there this holiday season. Just had a string of MC999s and suspensions.

ebay has kicked it into high gear this past week.Took a big blow to my sales. I need to slow down on listings and get it going with the account making so I'm ready to go full force once ebay eases up again.

guess this is good news for the sellers on the marketplace :)

Re: It's raining MC999s

It's a yearly occurrence that they become tighter.

Were you selling in higher volume and very fast with new accounts?

nodeal 10-27-2014 06:14 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

most of the mc999s were on more established accounts actually :/ gonna miss those soldiers.

All similar items?

What exactly was the reason for suspensions?

nodeal 10-27-2014 06:31 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

most of them were the same category of items…

"my selling practices have raised serious concerns"

yikes!

Re: It's raining MC999s

hmm. you may have made a link somewhere

do you log ips diligently?

I've had multiple accounts go down for listing cheap similar digital delivery items, and others go down for using firefox portable improperly

what is your stealth method? you want to nip it before you waste more time

nodeal 10-27-2014 06:43 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

I do log IPs, I use separate users, and although category was the same the items were different.

i don't think it's a link between accounts…

Probably more about the items I'm listing.

Vero items?

exxomscp 10-27-2014 08:10 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

Vero items or not, it doesn't matter. I've gotten this too. I'm suspecting possible link, due to category or photos.

pr0wake 10-27-2014 08:12 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

do you clean your photos?

nodeal 10-27-2014 08:18 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

i don't clean my photos. I do take separate photos for each acct though. Never cross the same photo across multiple accounts.

Similar category can cause link? My category is very popular, many variety of listings and products in my category. My items although in same category come in a wide variety (different brands and such).

I thought maybe i listed too much across accounts at the same time. Okay fair enough. But then I listed a few the next day on different accounts and I get MC999 still. And again the day after that.

I try to switch up style of listing, I don't think they can get me for that.

I thought maybe I did too many relistings, so I made a new listing and still, MC999.

hmm I think maybe my item is too high risk for this time of year.

nodeal 10-27-2014 08:22 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

also what makes me think it is simply ebay buckling down for the holidays is that I got a very uncharacteristic mc999 on a new account for an item that usually does not cause any problems for me on new accounts.

pr0wake 10-27-2014 08:43 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

sounds like a photo link to me. The similar behaviors confirmed you owned all the accounts to the supercomputer so they were killed, but the photos are the culprit of initiating the hard suspension

im guessing the MC999 wasn't the one you call in? its the perma-ban, right?

EXIF data stores info about the device used to take that photo, linking all of them to one source

nodeal 10-27-2014 08:50 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

most were indefinite restriction. two were 7 day suspension. two were call ins.

my partner got mc999 as well. he is using a separate device. so i am not sure this is the issue.

but now I will erase photo data as you have raised a legitimate concern and I thank you for that.

pr0wake 10-27-2014 08:53 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

does your partner have multiple stealth accounts?

multiple stealths + same photo source without EXIF removal = trouble

nodeal 10-27-2014 09:06 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

oh yeah, he definitely has multiple stealths.

He got his MC999s a little more spread out on different days.

He did get 3 MC999s the same day I got hit with a bunch. 1 permanent suspension. The other 2 just "warnings" - no suspension.

I downloaded the photo privacy app for the mac. You know if this app is good?

Re: It's raining MC999s

This type of thing s old news around this time of year,,,and also because of all the recent changes at Amazon, I think that ebay has a little extra incentive, to tighten things up a bit

nodeal 10-27-2014 10:15 PM

Re: It's raining MC999s

Well I hope prowakeskater is right, I just listed 2 more of this item on 2 different accounts and this time I deleted exif data. fingers crossed :)

mc999 aint no joke:ban?::ban?::ban?:

I also got several limits, I have not received MC messages for some time.

I dont care if I get that MC message. Everything I log into a ebay account I dont brace myself for anything, that feeling of despair is long gone.

Amen to that! I used to get that feeling also, but now, it's more of a.... "Is that the best you can do? I 'aint afraid of you guys" feeling!

Not to get weepy, but stealth has literally changed my life!

I second that. There is nothing more rewarding to know you beat the system..:fight:

No matter how much that try to combat us, we are usually one step ahead.

Not sure how long its been like this, but since I've been on this forum thats been the case!

Re: It's raining MC999s

I am thinking it is a category and log-in time link. I had two accounts closed with the infamous MC999, claiming suspicious activity. I keep logs for my accounts, including the times they are logged in to,IP, category searches, and more. The only similarity I found was the times logged in and the categories I viewed/listed into. Over the past week I accidentally logged into these two accounts one after the other, in the same order, after the one was logged out of. I can only assume it was the categories I looked at on each account along with the log out of one account then logged into the next, continuing that pattern 5 days in a row. They are trying to get smarter. RIP Jessica & Denver. We had a good run.

Re: It's raining MC999s

I got another account shut down today. They pulled up a list of the majority of my selling history over the past couple months and gave me the boot.

2 other accounts just had listings removed. Buy it Now makes a difference vs auction. Auction is safer.

rayraymond1218 11-10-2014 03:20 AM

Re: It's raining MC999s

No doubt. Auction is much safer and I move more items with auction style but sometimes they would end 10-15 lower compared to the average sales price and sometimes they end at much higher price. same product same ending time on different accounts, I'm assuming ebay is hiding people's listings

And you're not selling high risk items nodeal?

also got the boot surprisingly recently on 1. holiday security in full effect:ballchain::boink::fight:

Is Auctions really safer than Buy now? I cannot use auctions since my items are not fast moving so there will not be a lot of bidding on them.

man they have REALLY beefed up security. I can forget about listing in certain categories.

I took a big hit and lost a handful of accounts. Really need to stay extra cautious this time of year.

Yes in my experience with higher risk items auctions are absolutely safer, though you can still most certainly get a policy violation even with auctions.

Yes BIN is great but I won't use it until my account has paypal holds lifted and eBay limits increased

After you pass that level of trust than I'll list BIN, But on new accounts it's good to run 5or 7 day auctions

If your running a new account and have a BIN listing and have 5 sales in a day it raises flags and gets u shut down

You see a difference between 3 day auctions and 5 or 7 day auctions? Interesting. I've thought of it, but was never really sore.

Dmshark25 11-11-2014 01:31 AM

Re: It's raining MC999s

EBay doesn't like to see quick sales, so if your pushing 1 day auctions and getting too many sales quickly on new accounts it triggers security measures and can restrict your account from selling

The first 3 months it's always good to go slow and 5 or 7 day auctions are the safest

Re: It's raining MC999s

there are 2 kind of MC999, the one with 48 hours ( call them they will reactivate your account after few simple questions about your item.

the 2nd MC999 suspended, means the name and the address did not match on the public records, if the name and the address match and they did not have any Ebay account before then you will get good results without any MC999.

the key factor here is the public records.....if your data is good...they will let you sell.

Some guys try to be slicky by buying this info from hackers online, FIRST it it 100% ILLEGAL, 2nd think about how many ppl tried to use the same info to open Ebay or PayPal account.

you have 3 ways:
1- try to open Ebay account with name and address match along with zip code for the phone number. ask your friend or your relative if your own details suspended before on Ebay.
2- Try any other Ebay Market not the US
3- go illegal and you will operate your account from behind bars

My main selling medium is Amazon where my account is in good standing perfectly legal with my real info. Never had a problem and my products sell a bit higher there than on ebay (more returns to but let me not get started on that). I list a few items on ebay on BIN that I cant sell on Amazon - Items with issues or for parts - The items range between $30 - $120 and I only sell about 4-10 per account in a 7 day week so I have had no issues with BIN.

exxomscp 11-12-2014 12:37 AM

Re: It's raining MC999s

Half of my listings are being taken down probably due to the fact that I'm just listing them around the same time. Out of two listings, one remains and sells, different categories, one of them randomly gets taken down for whatever reason. Still doing okay this month, but kind of a bummer as I know I should be doing better.

I also notice the more paranoid buyers are coming out of the woodwork. Buyers seem to be questioning that everything is a scam. Lol.
