Yes this is a good start ... I should have done this since years.... When I switched to eBay as full time jop.. I though that I would work freely with no Boss... Now eBay is my silly boss...

Well actually I used a script called cs-cart for $200.00 Shopping Cart Software and Ecommerce Solutions: CS-Cart.com. Free downloadable trial
you can use cubecart, x-cart, creloaded, etc
all of the above have free version as a start
You can use oscommerce too
try google search you will find hundreds of scripts that you can use building your site
