How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

I sold a item priced at £5.99

Today, i got a returns request claiming that the item did not match
the description and haven't gone into much details what is exactly wrong with it.

The item was brand new plastic plate, glass and a bowl which was brand new.
And these were manufactured boxed.
This was securely packed with so much bubble wrap on it.

I have sold several of these and posted exactly the same way i normally do.

I some how believe the buyer is a competitor and or wants a freebie.

How shall i handle this?
Shall i tell to send pictures of the item?

The item just got delivered at 12.01 today and she opened the case within mins.

I know for one, this can't be damaged.
The item can't be broken too. It is plastic
This had several pictures of it in the description

This account is real. And i just got promoted to Top Rated. All good DSR and sales are good too.

How to deal with this. It's not about the price.
I just don't like buyers who put in a false claim.....

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

Its very low.

Just refund and block the buyer.

If you want the item back, then just pay for it and send the person to the blocked list.

I understand its the principle of the idea, but you need to protect your account and an item like that is not worth the fight.

5.99 is hardly an amount to go nuts about - BigCJ has good advice - sorry to hear about your rough buyer situation

Yikes!

Wow. Refund, move one, block the buyer.

But most of all, protect your account especially for this low amount.

Good Luck.

I was feeling rather mischievous overnight as I worked....

Was thinking of this scenario:

contact the buyer.

Say you are so so SO sorry about the damaged item.

Since it came .......(insert delivery agent), you are wondering if this was malicous damage by an employee. You intend to file a complaint with them....a refund is being done because it is just so rotten the buyer is deprived of some intact plastic

It's only evil thoughts not saying I would

nor I would not do this. Regardless I would feel happier.

;)

How to handle it? Refund them, block them and report them. $5.99 is nothing to lose sleep over.

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

ask for a pic. that is standard practice for damage.
a scammer is way more likely to say not received.

Refund, block and move on, as has been said, don't risk your dsr's, after working your way up to top rated don't let a scam buyer get the chance to do this again to you, not this scam buyer anyway!

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

Well a update.

I have requested a return back.
I requested this by using eBay returns label. I did call up eBay and asked them. The told me that everything is fine.

Now the buyer emails me to state send a returns label. This was already issued with eBay.
I had emailed the buyer. Under eBay policy a refund would only be issued if the item is returned back

Leaves a nasty feedback, open a case with eBay for " item not has described"

Then top of that the buyer is claiming i have bought something from them which I do not know what they are on about. I have no time to waste on such low people

Sending me such rude emails. Saying things like I am going to take you to court.
I am solicitors etc etc.
In my opinion people usually say these things to fright you off.

I have reported this buyer. I have blocked this buyer too.

Amazing to know how some people are such low life

Contact eBay in regards to your feedback and emails received and and the feedback should be removed.

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

I have done that. eBay has said they would get back to me within 48 to 72 hours.

I have fair share of buyers and sellers on eBay. I have seen it all.

I have done nothing wrong. The account is not stealth.
I have been ignoring the emails and have been professional in manners to return the item.

But boy, this person keeepppssss going on and on.

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

But you responded to them.

Soon as they gave the 1st grief, you need to cut ties after sorting the issues.

These buyers play mind games.

Nothing you do will work for them.

You must learn to keep the control.

Or repeat this scenario far too often.

So sorry this has happened to you.

10 years ago when making new accounts was simple, I would burn an account over principle. But now with it being a little harder and costing money with VCC, disposable phones, and bank account. $5.99 was just not worth the hassle. Should of refunded. Now just give the refund and hope Ebay removes the negative.

Does anyone Know if this makes Ebay reps more likely to side with you when evaluating the dispute?

similar story happened to me numerous times -- Buyer lies and says "damaged" and/or "wrong size" (SNAD case opened). When I know theyre lieing and request they take a photo of the "wrong size shirt" or "damage" they do NOT reply back. if you explain this step to the EB/PP rep does it help your side to not have it count against you?

This buyer is from hell

She is claiming that she is solicitors and would be taking me to court.

She thinks that I am link to another account which I have no idea about.

I checked her feedback and some other buyer has left a negative feedback.

Should I be worried?

Some people like to use ebay as a playground. Usually when they have a worthless job or low self esteem this type of thing tends to give them some sort of power trip.

If she really is or was a solicitor.. ask her to name her company and you will gladly show up in person.
Because she quite clearly does not speak or act like one.
She also has no leg to stand on with regards to this case since you did offer a resolution.

I personally would be looking for revenge lol..

Nobody likes a keyboard warrior. [emoji35]

No, of course not, leave her another negative feedback, when she sees she is starting to get more of those she will have to start taking notice of them.

You cannot leave a negative rating for buyers..

Only possitive ratings with negative comments in them.

So this account got an MC113 and this buyer is STILL harassing you.

Are the messages coming in via ebay?

Yes Green Bean.

I did refund back because I couldn't be bother with these low life.

But when I checked her name it looks like she might be one. Unless I got the wrong person

But what I do not get someone who is claiming to be in academically professional can be so childish.

If i go over my messages. I have said nothing or be rude in anyway.
She was the one who kept going about I am vicious, fraudulent etc etc.

I ignored her because silence in these matters are the best thing to get to people is silence. People can't take silence and they rant more.

To be honest. I have dealt with many buyers before who have been from hell.
I do not know why this one is getting to me and I feel like taking some sort revenge and make her feel what she has made me feel.

I should proparly ignore her. But can't help thinking how some people can just steep so low and think they can bully you.

Has a seller I have done everything right in the eyes of eBay.
But she said me message.

"See you in court"

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

I have spoken to eBay.

They have told me for someone who wants to take you to court has to contact eBay first.

eBay would tell about the transaction details and messages.

The item was sent with tracking courier.
When a return process was started. The acceptance of a return on the same day.
Paying for the return fee from the seller
Refunded back before the item was returned back.
Messages from her to be vicious

I did a check on this person.
She seems to be a solicitor.

What i do not get around this is.

A solicitor on eBay looking for pennies and fighting petty transaction.

Infact I should take her to court for harassment and causing me stress and making me feel like crap.

In the past, for that amount, I would just refund the buyer, block em and move on. Dont worry, you wont miss it, and after a couple of days all will be forgotten. Yes I know you feel cheated, but thats life sometimes, cant expect things to go perfect 100% of the time. All you can hope for is Karma

RosieTosie 02-06-2015 08:17 AM

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

She will not be taking you to court whether she really is a Solicitor or not, for an amount this size it would be laughed out of court as would her reputation and you can rest assured she is very well aware of that.

She would laughed at.

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

Thanks people

The thing is she emailed me and said

Taking me to court. I have to pay many thousands in solicitors and court proceedings.
I am no expert on law. But surely isn't she trying to make a fool of herself by claiming she has a case.
For someone who claims to be in law must know this is a joke.

Because of her my real account close down. This was a business account.

She has the item and a refund which she hasn't returned back.

I know she is intimated me.
Even though this is something I know would not go ahead.
She is using her position to make a threat.

Many people are professional. It's like a accountant going to a shop and the cashier gave wrong change.
The accountant saying I am accountant and you gave me wrong change. I am taking you to the court.
The cashier could have a bad day. The cashier retifty her mistake and everything is fine. But because that customer was a accountant, surely he won't use his position and claim he was being conned.

The only thing I am glad about. The account is real and not stealth.

This still has left me feeling bad. I mean she must have done to other people.

The case can only go to court if any damages happened.
Even the small court won't take this case since no money is involved.

What are your thoughts on this?

I did email her politely and was apologetics.

Has anyone had any experience in this type of person.

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

I read through the thread again - what did you offer as resolution to this buyer? It's not clear why she or he is still at it

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

I refunded her back after 2 days she opened the case.

I haven't got the item back. I did not care of it. For a small amount. I couldn't care less.

Bunneh 02-08-2015 10:23 AM

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

Stop replying to her, you are giving her what she wants.
She cannot do anything without proof.

If anything she is more liable than yourself, since she hasn't even returned the items.
She cannot have her cake and eat it to, broken or not.

Than that's it - no court - you gave refund - transaction is over.

Like Bunneh said, don't talk to her anymore and don't lose sleep.

Loser of a buyer

Re: How To Handle A Buyer Return Who Is Lying!!!!

One of my favourite things to do with buyers like these when they mention court etc, is send them links to the small claims court web page, and trading standards website. Then outline the situation from the start, showing how professional you where, and making bullet points on what you did for a resolution i.e paying for the return of the item.

I tehn point out their behaviour in a professional manner.

Then end it by, I have done everything that is asked of me, and therefore please contact the above institutions if you wish to continue this case any further.

Never hear from them again, and 9/10 I don't get negative feedback.

As I overheard in the chip shop a few months ago from a group of teens, it is now know as 'Freebay' , and I quote 'everything is free, you just need to know what you doing'.

Nice way to deal with these rogue and out of control buyers who seem to have lost the plot entirely wired, bet you were tempted to say something back to those teens in the chip shop as well!!

Good one wire.

I had just done this last week.

I had sent a clear outline of the transaction.
Told her step by step.

Now, no court or even small court is going to take this case.
In every way, there is nothing to fight for.
I should be the one puruseing this.

Let's just say, the buyer got what she deserved. All undercover and no way coming back to me.

I have never done this in the past. Just believe in karma.
But this time, I could not ignore it.

I learnt long ago it is not worth the fight over principle, just have to factor in the losses due to ebay buyers wanting something for nothing. Amazon buyers rarely say things haven't arrived/arrived damaged in my experience whereas on ebay it happens a few times each week!

Funnily enough, I didn't mind the kids in the chippy because its eBay that has created that culture, not them.

I also address the lying scumbags by their name in the email, and I clarify their address as well. Sometimes on earlier emails when I know they are attempting a scam, I throw in friendly lines like 'After checking your postal address to track the parcel blah blah ..Oh my sister lives a few streets away from you, its a lovely area)' as the scammers dont want anyone coming to their door. This shuts some up.

Another fave when they say a courier hasnt delivered (when its been signed for) is to say, ill get in touch with the courier, normally this means the courier will revisit your property with their supervisor to ascertain where the parcel was left and who signed for it, couriers are self employed and get in trouble for parcels going missing therefore they like to sort problems out face to face'

This is another WIN line, lost count how many times about an hour later after sending that one all of a sudden the parcel has appeared! I have them all written down in my SCAM folder. :)

I fought all my cases, never been a problem in operating stealth. I will never let them win, ever. But I also learned to not sell anything I couldnt make a profit in by sending signed for post only. Never send anything that wont have a signature at the other end, its just not worth it.
