Ebay sees your number even if you block it

I got a new cell phone and blocked all caller id info. Made a test call to another cell and it came up "private number"...But when I called ebay they were somehow able to see my phone number...they said "I see you're calling from xxx-xxx-xxxx" How did they get my number when I blocked all caller id info?

If it's a toll free number in the US then the receiver of the call can see the incoming number

calling in can always be done with a phone app. Typically that is what I do when I dont have a designated number easily accessible.

Blocking using *67 does nothing.

In the US and Canada Toll free numbers do not use conventional callerID. It's called Automatic Number Identification (ANI) and is sent to the called party when you dial their number. This applies to most any number such as 800, 888, 877, etc.

You can check this by dialing MCI at 1-800-444-4444 which will read back your number.
