Default Changing IP's with direct braodband hookup

I need to know if I need to change IP's when I change back and forth between "user accounts" on my desktop using a direct connection from my broadband modem? Can't risk getting tagged again.

The short answer is yes. Use a Fresh IP everytime you log into a different account.

I didnt think you had to use a new IP when switching between user accounts since each user account has its own cookies and flash objects?

Oge is right, yes you need to change your ip when switching between accounts.

Well just look at it like this when logging out of an account you are logging everything out this includes the ip. Same thing applies when logging into an account. So always change the ip before logging into ebay or PayPal!

I need a good program to change my IP, or a sure fire way that will work. I tried the instructions in the stealth e-book with no luck.

Im paying $25/mo with Comcast for 12Mbps service. Would a mobile broadband card be cheaper?

No its not cheaper but you can include it as a fee because selling you get PayPal fees ebay fees etc you just have to sell more to pay that fee.

OK here's what I did, and it works every time:

1: start/run/cmd
2. type ipconfig/release
3. unhook modem power cord 2-3 mins
4. plug back in modem and what til all lights are solid and functioning
5. with cmd window still open type ipconfig/renew
6. you should now have a new IP address

Steps two and five are redundant. Unplugging and replugging the modem suits the same purpose.

Also, considering step three, I believe you have DSL or ADSL and not CABLE. With CABLE, you either change a MAC or you unplug and wait anywhere from 4 hours to 30 days (depending on how long your ISP assigns the DHCP lease for). 2-3 minutes without a MAC change is no CABLE system in this world I've ever heard of.

Alot of modems these days will not allow to change your ip simply by unplugging it and plugging it back in. My ip is "static," unless I spoof my mac thru my router and alter it that way.

Static means it doesn't change at all ever. Dynamic means there's a way to change it. Sometimes quickly and sometimes not. I have dynamic IP that is 24 hours persistant. That means I have to unplug it for 24 hours to get a new IP. If I don't wait 24 hours, I'll keep getting the same IP forever and ever. If I change my MAC, I get a new IP. If I change it back within 24 hours, I get the one I had before. Thus, I can actually lock as many IPs as I want, just by changing MAC to get them, then revisit each MAC before 24 hours has passed...
