Cookies, Beacons and More - Interesting WSJ Article on Privacy
This article is eye-opening as it gives you a sense of what type of data can be gathered about you, without your knowledge when you surf the web. In fact, it's downright alarming!
Interesting read. Internet privacy is a big issue IMO that most people couldn't seem to give a crap about. People have this "Well I don't have anything to hide" attitude about it which is why these invasions of our privacy - however small - are allowed to slip past us.
This is only the beginning.. and really I blame the browser makers like IE and Firefox for allowing stuff like this to happen. I use NoScript and other addons for Firefox to counteract some of these leaks.
Good point Aspkin - NoScript is news to me - the average user can't be expected to be all tech savvy and such so yes, loophole. Most people just login, do their stuff, and are out.
When you use different user accts for each ebay or amazon etc... do falsh cooies of these leaks matter as much...? doe sit show consistency? Can ebay, paypal see where else you login and read the other flash objects and cookies on that acct? like if I log inti various email address from one user acct just to see hw everything else is doing without changing users?
