Verizon Mifi 2200

I wanted to let everybody know that if your looking for an alternative to dial up and still want to get different ips on each start up then I suggest getting the verizon mifi 2200 device.

It gives you a new ip address on every time you turn it on or off.

The cheapest plan they have is for $35 plus tax for 3GB of data usage a month.

Right now they have the mifi device for free at verizon.

Only use the device by plugging in the device to the computer via usb.

That's with a contract, right?

Red X 01-16-2011 09:49 PM

You can use the Mifi 2200 to connect up to 5 devices as well, using SPRINTS 3G SPEEDS,and no contract is needed. Here is the direct link to their website with all of the details:

MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot | Virgin Mobile

Yup you need a contract unless you want to pay $50 a month for 1gb, or $80 a month for 5gb.

jerry 01-17-2011 07:50 PM

Yes, it's with a contract, but it's worth it since your getting the device for free and getting a lower monthly rate. I like verizon because they have more IPs in their pool. Virgin which runs on Sprint does not have a lot of IPs.

Does it work the same when tethering a phone?

jerry 01-22-2011 02:37 PM

I only recommend the mifi from verizon and it works. The phone tethering I can't speak for because I've never done it, but I did read that others on the forum are doing it.

I am now running an account with Mifi, from Verizon. Works great so far, speed is good and worth the 50.00 a month. Thanks for the advice about using usb to hookup.
i once used tethering through my phone, but this is much faster...thanks to all...

I was thinking about doing this. Thanks for the info!

nak 08-13-2011 01:43 PM

I do it with a 4g card from verizon works like a charm

DHB123 08-15-2011 11:46 AM

yeah works great I highly recommend. ....You cant hook up using USB port, because then the device is only charging. Depending on location, you may only receive 3 G speeds, but I live in the boonies...

Hello, I noticed a few of you are using the Mifi from Verizon. I just purchased one a few days ago and realized that when using IP burger, the IP is located in a different state then where I live (Florida). Isn't that similar to proxy? anyone have problems with that or is it okay to use?
Thanks!

You should be good to use it. Currently my ip is showing in Kansas and I am in Idaho, and have never had any problems logging into eBay or paypal.=}

Oh good that is a relief, how long have you been using it? I hope it works long term as long as nothing else goes wrong, Thanks for the info 208Titan

You guys will all be OK. Cell phone data networks almost never show up as registered to your local area as the IP addresses are completely dynamic. Only fixed broadband reflects actual locations, and not all the time, either. The only time I'd be worried is if your IP showed up as out of your registered country.

Trader914 08-21-2011 08:24 PM

How about the MAC address? I have heard that changing the ip address is not enough - that eBay tracks you by the MAC addresses of your devices (router, NIC card, etc). Is that is the case, then just changing my ip addresses won't be enough. Does anyone know if this MiFI device will transmit the MAC address of any of the devices installed in my PC?

ovidiu 08-26-2011 04:58 AM

Don't worry about MAC addresses for eBay.

spookycloud 08-29-2011 02:09 PM

hey im picking up the ovation mc760 today since its cheaper and I dont need the wifi, will this still get a good range of ips as the mifi?
