Other than non-pay, why would you have one go down for buying unless it was "associated" with a banned one?

No I mean if the two that I use for selling go down, then I just use the buying ones that are in reserve to pick up the slack and sell. Get it? In theory it should work lol. Unless I get one of those "overnight ban fests" ebay seems to have been giving out.

DogFacedBoy 09-06-2007 06:12 PM

Gotcha, me too. planning for the enivitable...just hope it is later than sooner

Is it only the last set of digits in an IP address that change?

Advise needed please!
I asked this question in the changing IP address thread but no one replied to me!
I know its probably a very basic question but Ive trolled thru all the postings and no info regarding this is in there.
I live in South East Asia....Just want to know if its only the last set digits that change for each new Ip address? If I switch off everything and check the IP address, the only changes are to those last digits which change. After playing around with it yesterday I got 172, then 148 then 159 then last night ,49.
Is this enough of a change to the IP address as to be Ok to start up a new Ebay account please?
Also, if my Ip address always changes when I switch off my system and then use Ebay with my new username but logging in with different IP addresses now and again, how do they see this? Would this wave red flags or not?
Really appreciate any help here as Im ready to go but just need some reassurance that this IP change is all OK!
Thanks,Fran

rapunzel_01 09-06-2007 09:44 PM

thats how it usually changes......

madmack 09-06-2007 09:52 PM

Hey thanks ... its great to get a reply so fast.. so thats it.. all OK to go with a new ebay Ip then????

madmack 09-06-2007 09:53 PM

Also, how do Ebay view logging in to one user account if my Ip often changes?

if your IP changes big deal thats great, but the problem comes up when your IP changes to an old IP address that you got banned on thats the problem. it happened to me while setting up my router it came up with an old IP address I kept track of and got banned within a day.

will using a 2nd cable modem change a dynamic ip address? currently i unplug mine for 24 hrs and it changes...but I was looking for a quicker fix.

yoko07 09-07-2007 09:37 AM

And I was wondering this, does ebay only use when you login to catch your IP? I mean, I have this IP masker but it is sloooow. Is it possible to login under a masked ip but then turn it off and continue doing my ebay business with my regular IP? Do they continually check your ip even after you log on?

DogFacedBoy 09-07-2007 10:16 AM

I don't think logging in under a bunch of different Ips would raise a red flag because that is exactly what happens if you have dial-up, although that is going the way of the dinosaur

ebaykilla 09-07-2007 11:27 AM

I just can't buy a modem and get it to work without getting it cleared thru my ISP 1st?

I thought of doing this because the cable company told me that if I used the USB port to connect to the internet with a PC it will change automatically each time because it will see it as a new device. I use a Mac and they said it will not work.

DogFacedBoy 09-07-2007 11:40 AM

If you buy a new modem, you will obviously need to have your isp activate it.
As for the usb vs, lan connection I'm not sure because I thought that all cable modems had something embedded into the hardware that didn't allow for changing IPs. With SBC offering dsl at $15 a month, why wouldn't someone use an acount like this just for EB? I simply unplug my modem which is a DSL and get a new IP almost everytime

ebaykilla 09-07-2007 11:50 AM

can i get dsl over my cable broadband phoneline?

DogFacedBoy 09-07-2007 12:03 PM

no you need to have a landline (not sure if you need to also be a phone customer or not)
Not everyone can get DSL...it depends on how far you are from main switching stations

ebaykilla 09-07-2007 12:11 PM

ok thank you

ip adress with wireless conexion

Hi everybody,
I just got suspended and i will try to open a new ebay account with new email and gift credit card. my question is what can I do about my ip adress because i use wireless conexion from different neighbourg and i cant ask them to change their Ip or to unplug their router overnight. I get 3 different ip adress, do you think that ebay registered all of them. aslo I runed 4 account and 3 of them are suspended 10 days ago, do you think that the last one can survive ?I got suspended because I have been linked with a old ac**** suspended 5 month a go. The only mistake I did is one day before the supension I checked my feedback in my old account (without register, just checked via advanced search by seler name!!!)
If anybody can help me about my ip adress....
thanks

yoko07 09-07-2007 01:18 PM

Hello, Lupin the 3rddd, Lupin the 3rrrrd lol. Okay okay, about your wireless connection problem I don't know. The only option I see available is if you use one of those ip blocking sites such as Proxy Of Liberty - Free Proxy - Anonymous Proxy - Secure Proxy - Myspace Proxy - Orkut Proxy - Rapidshare Proxy - Megaupload Proxy . That should work for registration. And i'm 100% sure they didn't catch you because you searched for your seller name. The only way they would've caught you is if you logged back in to the suspended account or you had the same IP. I'm willing to bet it was the IP. Once you successfully make another ebay account, never under any circumstances go back to your old account. And check if your IP changed with this site Privax - Protecting Your Online Privacy.

DogFacedBoy 09-07-2007 01:18 PM

Try using the AOL browser, that will give you a different IP than your neighbor's even though you are using his connection...neat huh?

the problem is though next connection you might be logged into the old IP address LOL.

DogFacedBoy 09-08-2007 05:05 AM

I can't believe that you get booted strictly based on IP when they have to know they are commiunity numbers and are cycled. Have to be other factors as well with IP being one part of the puzzle.

OH THERE IS....address, name, etc...

arsenelupin 09-08-2007 08:29 PM

Hi, I've instaled aol browser but I still get the same Ip, can you tell more about how and wich software I have to install.
TY

DogFacedBoy 09-08-2007 11:31 PM

You have to click on the AOL icon on your desktop and it will give you a login screen which should have your info (I'm using my AOL email created exclusively for that particular EB account and the login info is the same for the addy). Just click on the sign on button and it runs itself from there.

Now go check you IP...

...this should work, does for me anyway.

stealthdog 09-09-2007 07:47 AM

I don't want to appear brash...but did you ever consider just gettin your own internet connection. then you will automatically get a new IP plus you WiILL have control to alter it.

DogFacedBoy 09-09-2007 09:43 AM

That does seem like the ethical, obvious think to do.
I've only added input here in that it is relative to using wi fi hotspots to access.

yoko07 09-09-2007 05:47 PM

but who wants to be ethical nowadays ;)

Keeping IP Changed

HI- I am still alittle confused.. any help would be apprec :)
LOg into aol as guest, ck ip.log out,
then back in as guest, ip stays same,
so you cannot log in/out of various eb accts.
correct or am i missing something?
i have dsl verizon, and also comcast cable high speed.
OR, do i have to manually plug in the phone line to use a Dial up on aol to keep getting different ip address?

I got several accts ready to age to 30 days , getting anxious to use them, but to not wantr them all linked.. ANYONE KNOW??
Thanks Bunches :))

Metallicat 09-11-2007 05:52 PM

hi all...new here, but i have been on eb for a few years and had already opened accounts in other names. i opened them to sell when eb gets suspension happy, but i never could figure out how to set them up to sell. ...i do now that i've found u all. thanks for tha info!!

got an i.p. question....i am on hughes satellite and i am not sure if this is ok.
i log into a site like ipchicken and get my ip address......
i close my browser and wait a few minutes and when i check it again its different.

does this mean i can go undetected by eb as long as i always have a diff ip when i log in?

thanks for everyones input.

DogFacedBoy 09-11-2007 06:03 PM

I have noticed since tracking my aol IP that there are about 5-10 numbers that get cycled...at least in my case.
There are other IP diguisers that are web accessible that will cloak you.
Someone has posted that they use them all of the time with EB without incident.
FYI I would think that it would be in your best interest to keep this simple. Wht does anyone need to be accessing more than 2-3 EB accounts at any given time? One one IE, one on Firefox and one on AOL. As long as you don't access IE and FF accounts with the same IP there shouldn't be a cookie issue either. The more you try to hide, the more you have to remember and the more likely you are to screw up and give your secret away to EB.

Metallicat 09-11-2007 06:17 PM

i guess ur right......tryin to take a huge bite when i should be nibbling. :D

Whateverittakes 09-11-2007 07:14 PM

I use AOL and it eventually always goes back to one certain IP address. Crazy thing is it says I'm in NY. I'm in TX. Now if I check or change my IP address under IE, it will be different all the time, but it's more accurate about my location. What is it with AOL? Constant mis direction? Despite it saying I was in NY, I had no problem setting up a new account on Ebay. Please advise. Thank you.

question about ip address

i recently installed another network adapter and that is another form of a quick way to change your ip address.

BUT, i logged onto my suspended ebay account out of habit with the new ip address.

i only logged on once and i was wondering if this will lead me to a suspended account?

also i was wondering do i need to make a new photobucket accoutn so that i could post up the pictures onto the description directly?

please reply back to this forum or to my email address at polandfreshness@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean network card in the computer...router?

tcho 09-13-2007 10:15 AM

One login is all the systems need to link your old account to your new account through IPs.

I'm not sure how Photobucket works, but if it creates 'random' urls for you everytime you throw up a picture then you're fine. However if it uses the same domain everytime ie photobucket.com/userID/picture then create a new account.
