| ebaykilla | 09-07-2007 09:09 AM | will using a 2nd cable modem change a dynamic ip address? currently i unplug mine for 24 hrs and it changes...but I was looking for a quicker fix. |
| yoko07 | 09-07-2007 09:37 AM | And I was wondering this, does ebay only use when you login to catch your IP? I mean, I have this IP masker but it is sloooow. Is it possible to login under a masked ip but then turn it off and continue doing my ebay business with my regular IP? Do they continually check your ip even after you log on? |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-07-2007 10:16 AM | I don't think logging in under a bunch of different Ips would raise a red flag because that is exactly what happens if you have dial-up, although that is going the way of the dinosaur |
| ebaykilla | 09-07-2007 11:27 AM | I just can't buy a modem and get it to work without getting it cleared thru my ISP 1st?
I thought of doing this because the cable company told me that if I used the USB port to connect to the internet with a PC it will change automatically each time because it will see it as a new device. I use a Mac and they said it will not work. |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-07-2007 11:40 AM | If you buy a new modem, you will obviously need to have your isp activate it.
As for the usb vs, lan connection I'm not sure because I thought that all cable modems had something embedded into the hardware that didn't allow for changing IPs. With SBC offering dsl at $15 a month, why wouldn't someone use an acount like this just for EB? I simply unplug my modem which is a DSL and get a new IP almost everytime |
| ebaykilla | 09-07-2007 11:50 AM | can i get dsl over my cable broadband phoneline? |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-07-2007 12:03 PM | no you need to have a landline (not sure if you need to also be a phone customer or not)
Not everyone can get DSL...it depends on how far you are from main switching stations |
| ebaykilla | 09-07-2007 12:11 PM | ok thank you |
| arsenelupin | 09-07-2007 01:12 PM | ip adress with wireless conexion Hi everybody,
I just got suspended and i will try to open a new ebay account with new email and gift credit card. my question is what can I do about my ip adress because i use wireless conexion from different neighbourg and i cant ask them to change their Ip or to unplug their router overnight. I get 3 different ip adress, do you think that ebay registered all of them. aslo I runed 4 account and 3 of them are suspended 10 days ago, do you think that the last one can survive ?I got suspended because I have been linked with a old ac**** suspended 5 month a go. The only mistake I did is one day before the supension I checked my feedback in my old account (without register, just checked via advanced search by seler name!!!)
If anybody can help me about my ip adress....
thanks |

| DogFacedBoy | 09-07-2007 01:18 PM | Try using the AOL browser, that will give you a different IP than your neighbor's even though you are using his connection...neat huh? |

| DogFacedBoy | 09-08-2007 05:05 AM | I can't believe that you get booted strictly based on IP when they have to know they are commiunity numbers and are cycled. Have to be other factors as well with IP being one part of the puzzle. |

| arsenelupin | 09-08-2007 08:29 PM | Hi, I've instaled aol browser but I still get the same Ip, can you tell more about how and wich software I have to install.
TY |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-08-2007 11:31 PM | You have to click on the AOL icon on your desktop and it will give you a login screen which should have your info (I'm using my AOL email created exclusively for that particular EB account and the login info is the same for the addy). Just click on the sign on button and it runs itself from there.
Now go check you IP...
...this should work, does for me anyway. |
| stealthdog | 09-09-2007 07:47 AM | I don't want to appear brash...but did you ever consider just gettin your own internet connection. then you will automatically get a new IP plus you WiILL have control to alter it. |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-09-2007 09:43 AM | That does seem like the ethical, obvious think to do.
I've only added input here in that it is relative to using wi fi hotspots to access. |
| yoko07 | 09-09-2007 05:47 PM | but who wants to be ethical nowadays ;) |
| jm3262 | 09-11-2007 08:04 AM | Keeping IP Changed HI- I am still alittle confused.. any help would be apprec :)
LOg into aol as guest, ck ip.log out,
then back in as guest, ip stays same,
so you cannot log in/out of various eb accts.
correct or am i missing something?
i have dsl verizon, and also comcast cable high speed.
OR, do i have to manually plug in the phone line to use a Dial up on aol to keep getting different ip address?
I got several accts ready to age to 30 days , getting anxious to use them, but to not wantr them all linked.. ANYONE KNOW??
