I tried to list an item for sale on Ebay using a different computer than the one I normally used. The item is only like $10. Ebay won't let me listed the item and asked me to contact Ebay Customer Support. I contacted them and the customer support said Ebay now track the computer you used. They said if I used a different computer then I may get blocked. My question is how do they know which computer I used so they can track it? What information are they recording from my computer? Thank you
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
Yes its a new policy they have if u use a diffrent computer to list they eather call u or some how verify u before they let u use ur account again. Its for safty they claim.
Ebay Is so ridiculous. I see alot has changed, just from reading this thread, and others. I'm so glad I'm done with them. Blocking someone just for using another computer is just insane.
^^ Yeah It has been around a couple of years for sure.
I only said that as to not get people confused and make them think this is something new EB are doing. When operating stealth, it is important to keep up to date with all EB changes :D

When I started selling on a stealth a/c they phone verified me. 2nd listing went ok but 3rd listing was phone verified again. no problem cos I have a few numbers now - general consensus seems to be hold on to the phone numbers for a couple of months or so.
A year ago, if I used a different computer to list an item ebay may asked me to entered my full credit card number or my full bank account to verify my identity.
A month ago, I used a different computer to list an item and ebay completely blocked me from listing the item. They make me call their customer service before I can list.
I think ebay has modified their securities so it worked like most bank websites. For example, Chase.com and Compass Bank actually registered your computer onto their system. If you used a different computer then the banks make you do phone verification.
^^ eBay has been like this for some time now. Security measures to ensure the person using the account is the authorized account holder.
Phone verification allows eBay to confirm your address and contact you about your account.
Don't forget that this is a genuine security measure. Think about it. What if someone did gain access to your account from a different computer. eBay would ring you and problem is sorted.
