And if you sell "low risk" goods, as long as you follow the basic formula we advocate here, EBAY will rarely suspend you.

Yes, if you sell non vero, legit merchandise I agree 100%.

There are alot, but mostly I would say designer clothing, bags, or jewelery, anything tech related (laptops, ipods, wii, gps systems, etc.). Basically anything in demand because there are so many counterfeits, and grey market goods out there.

GreenBean 02-20-2008 11:31 PM

Rules About Intellectual Property under Help lists on ebay what is considered Vero. Also makes mention of counterfeits/bootleg.

Ebay Tracking via pictures

Can anyone tell me if e-bay can track via pictures - say I download pictures direct from my computer - can e-bay track this??? Would I be better off using a site like auctiva or something if I have not used them in the past???

TotallyDisgusted 04-25-2008 04:08 PM

I think you are asking if you upload direct from pc to eb, can eb track that the pic. came from your pc?

If that is what you are asking, the answer is no. I upload all the time direct from pc, not auctiva or pic. mgr. site. Just make sure to use new pictures that have not been used with a suspended account.

aspkin 04-26-2008 07:26 AM

The only thing eBay can track when it comes to images is if you use a 3rd party site. Like if I were to host an image off aspkin.com, eBay links my domain name to my eBay account once I use it, and if I become suspended and try to use that same image hosted off my site again, that will link my accounts and I'll become suspended again.

It's best to upload your images or host off large image hosting sites. By the way, there are many threads about this in the forum already, keep reading. :)

I was actually getting wary myself about using the same image hosting, same actual images, and same listing format, and wondered if they could link.

I also wonder if they can link by the path your image is coming from, from your PC?

Superpak 05-08-2008 06:43 AM

Does anyone know if there is a program which allows you to put a mirror name/signature on your images saying your ebay user name, to prevent others stealing your images?

GreenBean 05-08-2008 07:04 AM

You might find something with this site. Good thing is that this is free. There is a lot of stuff that is useful. Would not be inclined to use your ebay name in case of account suspension

Hi everyone! I am new here and I was just suspended from Ebay after 8 years and feedback over 1000 and 98% positive. I was selling "out of print" rare "public domain" dvd's, I want to get back on, when I do I will set up my auctions completely different, but the movies that I will be selling will be basically the same, will Ebay be able to spot me because of the movies I am selling?

New account.. what about listing images?

Hi,

Is it possible to use the same images from my previous account or it's too risky?
If I shouldn't, is a minor change to the images is good enough?

Thanks

greg2414 06-22-2008 08:36 AM

get new images, simple as, you dont want any links atall do you!

Rosanna 06-22-2008 08:49 AM

it's time consuming but I personally delete any pictures from my old ebay account(s) from my computer and start fresh. don't take any chances, it's hard enough without linking to suspended accounts;)

ebay-sucks 06-22-2008 11:07 AM

Rosanna is dead on, dump the old ones. Its not worth the chance.

daredevil 06-22-2008 11:50 AM

question on saved ebay pictures on your PC

Hi,

i am a UK seller. i have been reading all the posts on your site and i must say its pretty good. Well i wont be sending you this message if i wasnt axed from ebay so am sure you have guessed already.

I have read and understood everything in the steps for creating a new account but cannot really get around the part on pictures saved on my PC. I use windows vista and i will like to know if i change my IP address, delete cookies and all the rest, will i need to create new pictures to post on ebay since they might link my computer. Would opning a different user account on windows do the trick? also does anyone out there know how to get aroung changing the IP address for virgin broadband. i have tried all methods and my IP hasnt changed. thanks.

greg2414 07-05-2008 08:35 PM

geeza, if you dont have a static ip you can use dialup or go with BT who dont have static ip's. Meaning they change when you reboot your modem.

Pictures, change pictures if you have been banned and use a free image host, then use the urls.

what methods have you tried to change your ip btw?
