Consider this a request.

This is Request 2. :)

Each user acct on a computer will have separate folders for cookies, this includes the java and flash cookies.

----If you are on a computer as user A and then you shut down the computer and log on as user B, none of the cookies from user A have followed, nor can any cookies from another user communicate.

HOWEVER, they can track your IP and if you have downloaded a program with active x controls (Turbolister) they can identify the different users.

That way would work.

My way would be for people who are paranoid and want to be 100% sure.

They're using flash cookies. Bank of American I know does this.

I just did a little experiment on my bank account. On one user account on my computer I usually access my wamu, each time I go to the site it recognizes me and I just need to insert my password, even after cleaning my cookies. So after visiting the site I logged off and then logged on again as a different user on my computer.

Voila! it did NOT recognize me

I got them here now too. Funny thing is when I first got it, my Firefox browser crashed for performing an illegal operation. I guess they were trying to get more access than they're allowed.

I just sign up for paypal using "opera" explorer. But however I use Mozilla when selling on ebay and objection did locate the ebay flash cookies but nothing from paypal. Is this going to be a problem if paypal can't locate there own flash cookies within the opera browser? BTW I even manually search for them without objection and still nothing.

does any1 know if these flash objects can be installed on MAC?
I know you cant get viruses and spyware using Mac, so I am assuming that these are considered kinda of spyware
any1 have an answer to this?

Thanks Modee, I did read the whole thread but I guess I didnt understand what they are very well, I thought they are the same idea of spyware.

correct me if i'm wrong. but arent they supposed to inform you they are placing flash cookies etc on your system !! I'snt that an infringement of your privacy to just plonk them on your drive. Thats like going into walmart and placing a camera on the wall to count footfall. is it me or am i alone in thinking thats against some law somewhere. or maybe if you sign a user agreement.; they can and will; thank you person. bloody cheek

i am going to contact my member in goverment about that. for sure. and other agencies

This may be my latest problem. I use a lot of ebay and paypal accounts. However, up until the past couple of weeks, I haven't had many issues. Now, every time I log into an account, it becomes limited on the spot. Could this be the reason? My first limited account was a few days ago. It was a brand new Paypal account that I was opening for future use. When I signed back in to add the bank account, it was immediately limited. This was without any sales or activity. I thought this was weird but figured it was just Paypal being Paypal. Then, today I went to empty out two of my newer Paypal accounts. The first one told me that my account was compromised by a third party and that my account was limited. They told me to change my password, security questions, and verify my location. I did all of the above and it was still showing that my account was limited. I called the guy up Paypal for an explanation. I was asked if anyone else was using my account and if the ebay sales were actually mine and then the guy was quiet for like 3 minutes "reviewing his computer screens" he told me. Then he told me he was going to lift the limitation. I got my money out.

Then, I tried to empty another Paypal account later in the day and they immediately limited that account and I started adding tracking numbers. This time, the checklist included a social security number (which I cannot give for obvious reasons). I have not called yet.

Any ideas? Is there something else I'm missing that is new?

Are you typing paypal.com into your browser's address bar to access your accounts at all times?
It sounds like somebody is phishing for your info.

I use Firefox with a Flashblocker addon and whenever I log into my PP account, I always see a flash object in the bottom left corner. Maybe that's it?

Ya, I'm signing directly into paypal from www.paypal.com.

I usually sign in with IE. Is this a problem? How do I tell if there are flash objects with IE?

Also, if I stopped using IE and started using Firefox, would this send up red flags at Paypal?
