| sagkash2 | 12-13-2013 02:44 AM | Re: Gmail kills the need to click “display images below” I am just going through the article.
We shouldn't be worried coz it says
"Now instead of serving images directly from external servers, Google will filter everything through its own secure proxy servers. That means every time you view an image in Gmail from now on, it’ll be hosted by Google which means your data won’t go to third parties and you won’t accidentally load any code from remote sites. ."
:D |
| sagkash2 | 12-13-2013 02:45 AM | Re: Gmail kills the need to click “display images below” Still anyone who doesn't want to take risk can disable the image display content by doing the following..
"If you’d like to disable images, you can go into your Gmail settings and select the option to “ask before displaying external content.”"

Re: Google will soon add images to email by default.. Yeah, I was prompted when I logged in earlier and just changed the settings to disallow it. It's simple enough. |

For such people I said , if anyone doesnt wana risk , change the gmail settings. |
| heil86 | 12-14-2013 12:02 AM | Re: Gmail kills the need to click “display images below” I use thunderbird and I forward all my emails to one gmail account which has filters enabled to different folders for each account. I have disabled all images and links, so even if i accidentally click on something, it does nothing! :) |

Happened on a few accounts already. |
| JamesNorth101 | 12-14-2013 07:16 AM | Re: New Gmail Image Changes Couple of posts already touching on this.
Just have to make sure the setting are the way you want them. |
| Sandy D | 12-14-2013 09:42 AM | Re: New Gmail Image Changes Be really careful until they get this completed.
Seems they are toying with changes as usual.
Google has become a mess in my opinion. Too much info sucking coming out of gmail anymore.
Now popups asking if you use for personal, business etc. |
Re: Google will soon add images to email by default.. I just slipped up, I read this thread recently but didnt notice it was by default.
Some images popped up in my face, I thought to myself "There's no way I changed the settings"
It's funny how Google says "Your emails are now safer, images will automatically appear in your emails"
Safe, my as*!
Google are doing lots of dodgy stuff these days, prompting you for phone numbers all the time, alternate email addresses, being automatically signed in to Chrome and Youtube when logged into your gmail account, multiple account log in
All in the name of security and convenience
Yeah sure. |
| mercurial333 | 12-17-2013 12:24 PM | Re: Google will soon add images to email by default.. After you change the settings to not display images, make sure you log out and log back in, for the changes to take effect. |

| frksmth | 01-15-2014 01:21 PM | Google is enabling all external images by default? any thoughts? I just noticed this a couple of days ago. Google is now enabling all images by default. If we do not want to load images for a particular sender, we can do it only after opening the email, which means that that the images have already loaded. Will this be a problem and link accounts?
This is what I read on the Google blog:
"...thanks to new improvements in how Gmail handles images, you’ll soon see all images displayed in your messages automatically across desktop, iOS and Android. Instead of serving images directly from their original external host servers, Gmail will now serve all images through Google’s own secure proxy servers. "
I have many ebay and paypal accounts (which I access from different operating systems and different IPs), just wondering if the images will be a problem...
Any thoughts on this?
 |
| slokor | 01-15-2014 01:45 PM | Re: Google is enabling all external images by default? any thoughts? Technically speaking and according to google this should not be an issue because they load the images on their servers first meaning any IP tracking or web beacons lose any effectiveness.
That being said - I do not trust google, ebay, paypal or any of these corporations to keep their word on anything like this so I just went into settings and clicked on the option to return things to the way they were - i.e. images NOT being displayed automatically. You do have that option. I would highly recommend using it. |

| joesshooze | 01-15-2014 02:25 PM | Re: Google is enabling all external images by default? any thoughts? This is kind of interesting. Think about it?
"Google already has a huge amount of information on each of us along with search history, social media history and even what videos we are interested in so I am not overly concerned about the privacy of Gmail pictures."
Mind blowing the new technology. Just got a text from Amazon that my pkg. was delivered. I don't remember giving them my telephone #, really? |

You do have that option. That was my concern...
Anyway, technically, it shouldn't be a problem since Google claims that they are storing the images on their servers first. Although, as you mentioned, we can't really trust Google either. |

P.S. for you with the questions. I got like 48 or 49 Gmail's attached to this program and works fine. Did I mention it's FREE? :)
+ it lets me know what account to log in every time I get an order or question by customers. :) It's simple and easy. Outlook costs money and is slow if you ask me! I JUST NEVER REPLY USING IT. DON'T BE LAZY JUST GO INTO STEALTH MODE TO REPLY TO CUSTOMERS! |
