Firefox portable and flash cookies

Ok, I don't want to alarm you guys, but I am a bit alarmed on this. I have moved several accounts to the firefox portable, logged them in with different ip from the same user acct etc. But I was just curious as I went into Adobe's website to check what kind of flash cookies they put in my computer and check this out:

And this picture is all throughout the other firefox portable installs. Is this a possible link factor? Should we be worried? Does the user account method different?

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

The above post is from the user account that has all the firefox portable stuff on there.

The following picture is from another user account, one of my best accounts actually and I have not moved this on to firefox portable. Notice that the websites is different compared to the above picture:

So what do you guys think? Linking factor or not? I know for sure that an ebay rep has told me that they do track through flash cookies. Something to think about I guess.

PayPal will have picked that up almost certainly, if that is then cross linked to associated eBay accounts is another matter.

I had a few accounts linked while using Firefox mobile. I have since discontinued using it in the same fashion

It sounded like such a great idea at first. Wish it would work, but the app data folder, and adobe after that is just bugging me.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

personally, I keep my FFmobile folders in a shared folder.

I then use the "guest" account on my mac, which has been customized to my settings

this way, every time I log out of the guest user, ALL browser info is deleted, yet the cookies are contained in the FF browser inside the shared folder.

Haven't had any issues since

Sounds interesting - the cookie showing on multiple accounts doesn't look promising...wait until others chime in on it.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

Adobe Flash maintains its own repository of cookies independent of the web broswer. These cookies are visible across the OS platform.

Now whether all these precautions actually matter is another question, I'm not so sure. I personally believe eBay/PP seem to have eased their stance on one account one user. eBay now seem to have a major, mega preoccupation with greed even if it means allowing all those banned individuals back on board in droves.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

When you say across the os platform are you saying even across user accounts? Flash cookies can be seen across user accounts?

I have just disabled my flash cookies.

Not had any issues doing that.

No, not across user accounts. The data in user accounts is supposed to be segregated.

Best to disable flash plugin for FF Portable.
if you need flash, use Chrome Portable, it has built-in flash and doesnt store flash cookies in shared folder of windows.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

How do you disable flash within ff? Has it been posted before?

Will try this for all my FF portables.

Just to confirm, to disable flash go to: tools > addons > plugins and set shockwave flash to ask to activate.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

Type in Google Flash cookies - click Adobe and it should show Global settings - use the 2nd tab at the top and untick both boxes and then the second to last tab delete all previous sites.

When you create any new folder for FFP flash will automatically be disabled.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

Would ebay be suspicious that you deleted all these flash cookies?

Ok cool, thx. Have you had any problems with links with ff portable yet? I actually have five accts that might be linked but so far no problems.

Re: Firefox portable and flash cookies

I tried this for 2 accounts - not a lot of testing but no problems so far. I am still using separate user accounts like I have always done as default

Do you mean like this picture below? Also, do you do this to every new firefox portable install? Thanks
