IP Address Spreadsheet That Auto Highlights Duplicates
 

I have searched the forums and the web for a simple spreadsheet that will highlight all duplicate values/cells in a column. The problem is I don't have Excel I have OpenOffice Calc.

Does anyone have a OO Calc sheet that will highlight a cell whenever a duplicate ip address is entered in say Column A2 through A999?

Never used that before but does it not let you search? Cause you could just enter the ip in the search and see if it was used before / overall would recommend getting Excel if possible

Excel is so old school. Look into Google Spreadsheets, it is the future.

Usually on any spreadsheet their should be a "Find" function , just enter the value and you will see exactly how many times he value is repeated

I use "Numbers" on my IPad , which is similar to excel, and I back it up as an excel spreadsheet to google Drive

But whatever format the spreadsheet is in there is always a find function

Dawg, we are talking about keeping track of IP addresses. It's one line of numbers and every time you need to look for a used IP address you Hit CtrlF or CmdF and BOOM, there it is.

Google Spreadsheets are the future? Maybe if you are still using hammer and chisel to carve the IP addresses into your cave wall.
If not, then Excel does the trick and anything more sophistcated is overkill.

*Whoops, just read it's OpenOffice. It still might be the same. For future reference, this is how you do it in Excel.

Click on a column then go to Conditional Formatting > Highlighting Cells Rules > Duplicate Values

Then you can change the specifics. When a duplicate value shows up, like an IP written exactly the same, the box will be highlighted in red or red text or however you want it. I only do this for one column and am not sure how to do it for the full spreadsheet or what have you, but I'm very sure it's possible.

Doing this for a full spreadsheet is easy. Just change the range to include multiple rows. EG change A30:Z30 to A30:Z35
