Simply Download the old version of Paintshop Pro 6
I use PSP6 for 95% of my pictureediting.
1 Its blazingly fast
2 Its cheap now (You can also download from emule or torrent)
3 Its old enough to not handle exif data so just open and save the pic thats it

ebay links photos from specific cameras?

If I took a pics with a camera that took pics on a previously banned account, can it be linked?

yaw1800 03-10-2009 02:01 PM

nope, been using the same camera since 2006, no problems

siashay 03-10-2009 03:11 PM

I also use the same camera on several accounts, there is a chance if they already suspect you as a suspended user they could use this method as proof.

stang1101 03-10-2009 03:19 PM

yep, didnt think so. But then again you never know with egay...

If you use Photoshop just choose to save your file for the web. To do this, open your picutre and press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + S. This will save a copy of your original file stripping all EXIF data. It will also optimize your image for web browsing.

HWGAs experiment says you are safe with auctiva, no?

cjw7 05-23-2009 09:35 AM

does anyone have an inkfrog account? If so, would you know if I would use the same pics w/ a different ebay account in the inkfrog account if ebay can link? I can add more than one ebay username to my inkfrog account.
Or is the info changed in transit like auctiva?
Is there a way I can tell?

NO ID 05-23-2009 10:46 AM

Just print screen and crop your photo for different pic details

cjw7 05-23-2009 10:21 PM

I understand that, but the point is I don't want to have to change all the pics if I don't have to.
Is there a way I can tell if images are changed in transit?

cjw7 05-24-2009 08:45 PM

anybody know if I can tell if images change in transit w/ inkfrog?

Sounds like this thread is a keeper.....

This is 100% news to me, and it's kinda hard to believe. So you mean to tell me that if I get suspended while using photo A.jpg, then open a new account and upload A.jpg to imageshack which turns A.jpg into 23uueqw.jpg, eBay can some how tell that it used to A.jpg, which was used on a suspended account, and link me? :/

yaw1800 09-01-2009 05:43 PM

i always use same pictures and never got linked... i think linking people this way is a little extreme..

mine 09-02-2009 06:53 AM

All they would need to do is save a segment of data from your image and keep it. Then compare it to the same segment used in other auctions.

Re #35: Sure enough it is true. It *can* be done.

Re #36: Maybe you are beneath the radar with your category. But if they ever TRY to link you, or if you go out into the wild, expect it to be a probable event.

Re #37: All they have to do is store the HASH value in a database. Don't even need an image segment.

i wouldnt doubt they can link you this way, i just feel that they must be REALLY out to get you if they are trying to link you this way

There is so much great info in here...thanks everyone!

Also, can anyone recommend anything BESIDES Acutiva for removing META DATA?

pod 10-24-2010 06:46 PM

Damn, holy, you like digging up the dinosaurs....

There are quit a few good free exif strippers. Try a few from google and see what you like. Some are pretty basic and fast, but are clunky. Best to see what you dig

jerry 11-13-2010 12:52 AM

Pod, which exif stripper do you use in particular?

Also when you strip the data from the picture and save it to your computer won't any information from the specific windows user account be transmitted onto the picture?

pod 11-13-2010 01:04 AM

I dont use a stripper much. I do all my own watermarking in photoshop

I've used DietJPEG a few times. Seems to strip it pretty dry. Its fast and does batch files. But what gets put on image I cant be sure without running some tests. I think you can strip it right to nothing, including no user info.

Always run your own tests to be certain you can trust what you are using to be safe

jerry 11-13-2010 01:09 AM

I appreciate the quick response, Pod.

I'm not to good with photoshop so that's a no go.

I just don't want the address where the picture was taken to be shown on ebay.

Ok I tried DietJPEG and it does take it almost all of the metadata but it does leave the user info in place. It does show the path, location the picture is stored, and the date it was taken.

Any way to take those two pieces of info out of the picture?

Also I wasn't able to find the geospatial meta data which contains the address in the picture. Is there any specific way to find that?
