ETSY becoming Amazon? New ODR policy. Is that the end of Etsy?

Well it seems like Etsy is becoming Amazon by implementing it's new Order Dissatisfaction Rate policy.
You can read more about it in this article:
https://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/abb...574045451.html

It's a shame etsy was great lately and now they are becoming a corporate soulless machine like Amazon kicking out small sellers from the site.

If you are trading on Etsy, please consider signing a petition against this:
https://www.change.org/p/etsy-revise-etsy-1-odr-policy

What a shame.

Etsy now has many sellers,it sounds like it is weeding some out, those who sell Chinese goods and call it handmade !

Well as a result of this, not only those who sell chinese goods will suffer but also small seller if for example an item will be delayed in the post and buyer will leave a negative feedback or open a case, even if the item arrives in just a few days and buyer closes the case or change the feedback to 5 stars, etsy still count it towards ODR this is ridiculous and many sellers are ranting about it.

sellers would have to accept the consequence ,the carrier is your agent ,if carrier is inept, you would have to make improvement,eg change carrier, upgrade to a better service.
You wanna make money, then face up to the minus ,not just the positive.
No matter what you do,there will be some bad incidents, you just have to deal with it,like setting aside some $$ reserve, compensate the customer.
During past years Xmas seasons, with hurricanes and flooding, many sellers lost a lot of money when packages are routed and misrouted and buyers got their money back and received goods later .

Easy for you to say, you are from US, but guess what this rules are also imposed on EU sellers which simply don't have many international delivery choices and Esty buyers are mostly from US and Canada. So you say nonsense here.

It is not nonsense.
Most buyers are from US and the main focus of this platform is US market.
If you are not from US, that's too bad.
If you still want to sell on this platform, you are the one who needs to find a solution.

If you cannot satisfy your US buyers, then your odr will be higher than 1%.
I agree that 1% is too difficult as the scam rate on this platform is higher than 1%. Basically, you need to refund the money to some scammers in order to be safe.

It is not nonsense,if you dont have many intl delivery choices, then be selective.
I dont sell to buyers in Middle EAST except Israel,I dont sell to buyers in Russia and rest of Eastern Europe,I also do not sell to Nigerians in Nigeria and rest of Africa, except South Africa,at one time I also avoid most Latin America countries.

Royal Mail takes ages to reach US buyers and this can result in case being opened and than closed few days later when postage arrives and guess what it counts towards ODR. If you ever experienced Royal Mail you would know it's pain in the ass,SLOW pain, they constantly lost parcels and urghhh just read forums about Royal Mail.
DHL???!! How would you ship a $10 $15 item with DHL which cost at least $30 to ship even for small items to US. NO one would buy with such high delivery price.
But honestly I there is no point to prove you something, you are americans and you think this ridiculous ODR is good, sure when you are americans it might be good for you privileged folks.
I have no more to say, anyone from Europe knows my pain. Americans won'd understand, they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

This person has a sour grape problem, she wants to sell to US and Canada but she cant find a shipper which meets her needs, what a spoiled brat.
I have received packages from UK via Royal mail, never a problem.

I just want to share something in case someone doesn't know.

If a bad buyer left you a 1 star review and changed to a 5 star review later, it still counted as one defect in your ODR.

This is not fair.

Yep I already pointed this out here, seem no one cares and everyone agree this is good. Well for US sellers maybe, however I can't imagine how this can be good for anyone. This is madness.

Re: ETSY becoming Amazon? New ODR policy. Is that the end of Etsy?

There is no way we can stop this,as Etsy has grown by leaps and bounds, there has to be more rules ,more competition, the strongest survive.
Do you know Etsy will show your account -this seller usually responds in a few hours?

Based on what you have said with poor service and cheap slow shipping to the Privileged USA, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT thing to rid the platform of YOU.

If YOU cant offer a fast and effective service, dont suck the teat of the USA. You want Money from us spoiled Americans, step up your game or be left aside. :au::lol::peace:

You really are a whinny obnoxious jealous seller. Make the cut or dont. No one has time for your slow service and tears of defeat.

Re: ETSY becoming Amazon? New ODR policy. Is that the end of Etsy?

i was reselling painted art work and was using some language that made it seam authentic and related to actual professionals i won't use names but the etsy sellers were dinging me with bad reviews for confusion. ODR definitely slammed me. Art works profit is high. Low volume. The low volume shops will go down quick and hard man...beef up that sales to get those %s down with high volume store. The new ODR is going to kill off many low volume shops quick.
