will etsy go to debt collectors ?
so I have an etsy shop that is likely going to be shut down very soon , the bank account associated with my etsy account is valid but my debit card is not , I wondering what course of action etsy would take if a buyer opened a case against me and etsy sided with the buyer and issued a refund on my behalf but the debit card they issued it to is not valid , would they follow it up by sending the debt to a debt collection agency or even sue me ? |

I dont know at what point Etsy turns it to collection agency,but I know a guy who default on his bills,(he was suspended for not paying),but he used his mother ID to open a new shop,Etsy just took the money from his new shop.
Etsy is much smaller than Ebay and AMZN,collection agency takes its cut,so Etsy could wait until it is obvious it cannot collect,then turn it over.

I don't think that they would hire debt collection agencies, tbh, however know your rights before this kind of thing may happen |

| What is the amount? A lot depends on that. Collecting a couple of hundreds probably will cost more than the amount in debt. |

thanks a lot for such a warm welcome! I've become interested in all my rights as a consumer and debtor as well when I actually realized that I have a debt which is to be paid, when collectors started their phone calls threatening me. I've read about my rights on https://www.lemberglaw.com/phoenix-financial-services-pfs-collection-complaints/ and got in touch with the consumer law firm to help me. Just be aware of the fact that no one can threaten you, it's illegal even though you have debts. I finally decided to ignore these phone calls after several consultations with the lawyer and gradually paid my debt. |
