Etsy has taken money from seller bank account ,I dont know if it still does.
In my case,I was scammed by an Etsy seller,it took almost a month to win the chargeback,and Etsy just retrieve the money from seller bank account.
I dont know at what point Etsy turns it to collection agency,but I know a guy who default on his bills,(he was suspended for not paying),but he used his mother ID to open a new shop,Etsy just took the money from his new shop.
Etsy is much smaller than Ebay and AMZN,collection agency takes its cut,so Etsy could wait until it is obvious it cannot collect,then turn it over.
only if they know who you really are though
also I was once acidentally given money by paypal twice and they never dipped into my account to get the second money back

What is the amount? A lot depends on that. Collecting a couple of hundreds probably will cost more than the amount in debt.

I've become interested in all my rights as a consumer and debtor as well when I actually realized that I have a debt which is to be paid, when collectors started their phone calls threatening me. I've read about my rights on https://www.lemberglaw.com/phoenix-financial-services-pfs-collection-complaints/ and got in touch with the consumer law firm to help me. Just be aware of the fact that no one can threaten you, it's illegal even though you have debts. I finally decided to ignore these phone calls after several consultations with the lawyer and gradually paid my debt.
