Buyer Tells me to change address after payment
 

Hi, what's wrong with these buyers telling me to send the item they bought to another address and then when I check their profile it says it doesn't exist anymore? I am new to ETSY, is this some sort of scam to get the money back when they get the package?

Hacked/phished accounts ordering and asking to change the adress that they would reveive the item instead of the victim.

Really? Got like 6 orders in 2 days of people trying to change the address after payment and with account deleted.. I will refund all the orders then.

I second that. I used to get countless messages from buyers who were going to go on vacation, forgot to change their address or just made a mistake when typing in their address. Not sure if it helps but maybe OP can check the buyer profiles and then make a decision.

Better to avoid such deals. I think your margin is not very high, and if one of ten such buyers will be a scammer - you are at a loss.

My items go from 150 to 500 euro, I can't lose money from a scammer, better to refund when account is deleted and they ask for change of address.

I get this very often, the buyer had their account hacked with their card linked to it, and the hacker/scammer asks to get it shipped to their address.

I don't post the item, but I mark as dispatched and add a tracking number from another item. Etsy will refund the victim of the scam on their behalf, and you keep the money that was paid.

Best thing you can do. Its nearly always going to be a scam
