20 day holds on new stores?
 

Hello again everyone,

I recently started a new Etsy store in the UK and noticed that there's a 20-day hold on my funds. This seems to be a new measure for new sellers, but I haven't found much information about it.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, as they mentioned before, the new store will be available for sale and will be retained for 20 days

Seems like every single platform out there wants to hold your funds for at least 3 weeks.

Yeah, I can see why but at the same time it gets really annoying. You literally ship your items out and wait in good faith that they won't screw you over.

It has become a popular method on different sales platforms, perhaps they expect you to comment on a mistake and take your money.
Although I have a friend who has been here for a long time who claims that they use retained money to invest in markets and cryptocurrencies. (it's something they say)

When scammers make 100 new stealth accounts to commit fraud this is what happens. Now when you sell a $5000 item and ship nothing and close your account, etsy wont get stuck refunding the buyers.
Etsy learned this was an inevitable step later than most other platforms.

Things are not good out there,I see more security guards at retail stores,not just Walmart or Target or Home Dept,BEST BUY ,.but grocery stores as well

Constant evolution - scammers jump on things quick and make things harder for future sellers

In my experience new shop without risky items has a 3 days hold and 3 weeks, if items considered risky. So that may be an indicator now how they look at your business model.

They use third party to check up on you,they know more about us than they will admit.
Charge back can come in 6 months,so 3 weeks is fair .
I recall Etsy can access your bank account to not just deposit fund,but to withdraw as well

well,from my experience, 1-18days.Mostly 5-11days.

with more sales with time they will left hold on your funds
