| | | coolcatty | 10-18-2024 06:49 AM | Etsy taxpayer ID required I have had stealth accounts for years, with no problem, but one of my accounts is now asking for a l taxpayer ID (national insurance number) any ways around this, do they check them ? |
| johntusk | 10-18-2024 07:53 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required From Etsy:
"In January 2025, Etsy will be required to provide information regarding UK sellers who joined the platform in 2024 and meet the reporting criteria. Moving forward, Etsy will report transactions for all UK sellers who meet the threshold, regardless of when they joined."
Same true for EU accounts.
We can only wait and see, but I expect such accounts to be closed in 2025 at some point by Etsy. |
Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required No real way of being creative with this ID? Just wondering |
| johntusk | 10-19-2024 07:19 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required Only tax number is requested.
But it will not match with identity in the database of tax authorities. |
| dovydas556 | 10-19-2024 01:22 PM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required So this is it? Can we do anything about it? |
| coolcatty | 10-20-2024 07:22 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required so if you generate a NIN, they'll send it to HMRC and that'll be it? The last breaths of any stealth accounts.

| Freakzilla | 10-21-2024 09:55 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required This will be required for all UK sellers who meet the threshold going forward as part of the reporting to HMRC. About 1 million threads on this on here, with every possible question asked. |
| FreddieDogg | 10-22-2024 12:35 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required As our marketplace and sellers’ businesses continue to grow, we’re asking sellers to share a bit more info about themselves. This helps us meet changing local and global regulations and create a better experience for buyers, so they keep coming back knowing Etsy is a trusted place to shop.
To simplify things for you, we’ve streamlined these new requirements into one easy process. You’ll need to confirm the seller info you’ve shared with us, then update or add any missing details within the next 60 days, as legally required.
Here are the regulations that apply to your shop based on where you sell or your sales volume. You can learn more about each law in our Help Centre.
UK Tax Reporting: You’re a seller in the UK who’s made 30+ sales or received £2,000+ in the past year.
Keep in mind: If you haven’t confirmed your info within 10 days, you won’t get paid for your sales until you confirm your info. After 60 days, if you haven’t confirmed your info, we’ll put your shop on pause via the Holiday Mode. This means you won’t be able to unpause your shop or receive new orders, and your listings won’t appear in search results on Etsy until you confirm your info.
Here’s how to confirm your seller info:
1. On Etsy.com, click Shop Manager.
2. Click Confirm info in the yellow banner at the top of your dashboard.
3. Follow the instructions to review or update your info. |

Is there such an English word? |

so what happens when you try to confirm the info? does it ask you to upload ID or just confirm the names and address that they have on file? |
| rswomA | 10-22-2024 06:35 AM | Re: Etsy taxpayer ID required They added tax reporting same as DAC7 (for EU) for the UK |

Will report back | it could literally just be that they want you to review and confirm the name and address, without providing ID, click on it and update us, you can always click cancel and go back. |
