| ash213 | 06-04-2014 05:17 AM | How Does Etsy Work? Probably a daft question but always thought about rolling with Etsy, i think now its time.
What is the stealth ways around going with Etsy?
As i have never registered, could i go legit? or stealth all the way?
is there an etsy guide?
thanks |
| GreenBean | 06-04-2014 05:20 AM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? No guide per se.
The guide to use is ebay stealth.
Know ebay stealth and etsy should be OK.

Re: How Does Etsy Work? Understanding stealth guide principles can be applicable to MANY if not ALL web platforms :) /general rule |

Just use the same principles and be careful and you will be fine. |
| novemberrain1970 | 07-26-2014 06:48 AM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? That site can be good but know going in it is extremely competitive and "clique-y" so be prepared if you step on any toes with what you're selling you may make other sellers mad. Attract the wrong kind of attention and they would then be gunning for you.
It sounds crazy I know but been there, done that. I have had my fill of that site personally!
And I also don't recommend using your real info. Anywhere. Ever. But that's my own paranoia, perhaps! |

I've been doing pretty well on the site with a unique product but I've seen sellers with similar items recently and now I'm getting some strange activity over there. |
| unkown5454 | 07-31-2014 05:44 PM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? Et.sy does have bots following and favoriting hundreds of thousands of items. What their purpose is, I'm not too sure of.
But, watch your social activity and referral links in your stats page. You can see some really interesting stuff. |
| ovidiu | 07-31-2014 09:47 PM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? Unknown5454,
Apparently etsy employees have their own shops on etsy and scam the system to up their shop's ranking. One possibility for that behavior. |
| unkown5454 | 07-31-2014 11:07 PM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? That could be true too. I have made a ton of stores while testing products and the exact same accounts follow all of my stores or random products in my stores within 48 hours. It seems automated to me. Just wish I knew what they were doing. I believe most do have stores themselves so your theory seems legit. |
| ovidiu | 08-01-2014 12:23 AM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? Does following a store give the follower any more insight into the seller, except for (I'm assuming) being alerted to new listings? |
| unkown5454 | 08-01-2014 12:52 AM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? I tried that in the beginning. It was useless. |

Also they can and do use social media to attack. |

| ovidiu | 08-01-2014 07:05 PM | Re: How Does Etsy Work? I say go stealth on first etsy account, learn the ropes. If you get booted or whatever, you can always start a new stealth account. Keep personal info safe for when you sure you are good and you can use the CC processing too. |

Well I never.

I find most people want to use paypal to pay anyway as they feel "safer" *cough* and they can still pay with a card on paypal. Just my personal experience. |
