So your not using DC because your afraid of buyers that don't know how to use paypal? that's a good reason to loose a huge percentage of potential customers?

"all i do is moan...." I just wanted to make sure im safe before risking money, it was a simple question which i could answer in 2 minutes if i ever entered a thread like this but for some reason its always hard to get a clear simple answer, which i finally got after more than a day.

Here. I pulled out a post you seem to have missed.

We must supply SSN each time we apply for DC. This means we get one shot and one shot only. Once we lose it, game over. This applies for all of us who operate in USA and unlike EB, PP, AZ, etc...we cannot use EIN on Et.sy accounts.

I will not explain how any of us operate our business. Et.sy is just known to be a great place to sell but also a great place to get banned for no reason other than competitors reporting you or Et.sy simply feeling your items are not "handmade" enough to be sold in their marketplace.

In such a volatile atmosphere, it is much more efficient to focus on PP for checkout. I can use the same PP account for an infinite amount of Et.sy stores simply by rotating newly created email accounts. It doesn't get any easier than that.

i have used etsy for years and no one ever complained to me for not using direct checkout. everyone paid by pp

Go look up Etsy suspensions. Those loons suspend people for more arbitrary reasons than Ebay. That's saying something. In most areas, which was stated before, once you supply the SSN you are done with ever using direct checkout. Etsy doesn't care. They don't even accept EINs. So even formed businesses could not get on there without making one person a potential victim of Etsy Staff.

Some of the YouTube videos are heartbreaking in regards to etsy suspensions. It's clear they know nothing about stealth and face bankruptcy because some NY Owl Cup drinking staffer decided to push a button and delete their store.

But yeah, next time read up on what you are talking about.

My legit et/sy acct was suspended 1 month ago, since then they sent my final payment of DC funds ($120) - I didn t even pay my last installment of seller fees (only $8 or so),man they re trusting!!

So now my e/tsy stealth question (anybody): Will use pp only but they still want a cc, will any gift card do? vanilla visa,etc.? I am in Canada and hear RBC gift cards are real good.

Etsy sellers are the biggest bunch of snitches on the planet! Its like a cross between Soviet Russia and the Third Reich. Stay OUT of the forums they are poison. The mods are semi literate.

I like to read through the forums to see how dense some of the etsy sellers are. I read a post where the seller was afraid to give out her paypal email address because she thought the buyer (who wanted to pay her via paypal) was a scammer trying to get her credit card info. by asking what her paypal email was so she could send a payment. Some of the in the threads are crazy and gives you an idea of some of the type of people you are dealing with there.

+1 on this. Same goes for eCra.ter forums and PowerSellersUnite forums.

Reading them does help to give an idea of some operational issues for each selling platform. Just never participate and if you absolutely feel the need to, make a bogus account to just mosey around. Keeps weirdos from creeping on your accounts.

RE "handmade" on et-sy: sure are a lot of people handmaking watches....thats quite a skill, must take years to make each one :-)

I just got suspended today for no reason and all my funds were kept with no explanation ETSY IS CRIMINALS DO NOT USE THEM YES COMPETITORS WILL REPORT BULL**** ON U AND U WILL GET KICKED OFF WITH NO REASON OR EXPANATION AND YOUR MONEY WILL BE KEPT AND REFUNDED TO THE CUSTOMERS I SENT OUT 8 ****IN ORDERS AND I PUT THE TRACKING NUMBERS IN AND THEN IMMEDIATLY GOT SUSPENDED AND THEY STOLE 300 ****IN DOLLARS

Etsy prides itself as a place to buy handmade items,so it is strict on what is handmade and by whom.
It must be handmade by y ou or someone who works for you,if it is handmade by someone who is not employed by or by you,then it will be removed.

They keep your funds for 4-6 months. I believe the reason for this is for refunds in case some your customers are not satisfied and need to take their money back. You'll get your money back eventually, but they also have to be covered too. And yes, etsy started as a marketplace for handmade products only but this has changed a lot. However, they are still very strict for non handmade products, so yoy have to be prepared and really careful.

Funds are automatically disbursed within 180 days.

Experience from 80~ suspended accounts.

When your Etsy shop gets suspended, you also lose access to any funds in the PayPal account that’s linked to Direct Checkout.

You will most likely get your money back even if you don’t get your shop back, but that process can take a long time and that can cripple your business if the money you need operate your business is frozen in your Etsy accounts.

Keep your balances in your Etsy accounts as low as possible and transfer your money regularly into an account that you are in control of so that you still pay your bills even if your Etsy shop is suspended
