Hi.
I use use OR proxy for my surfing but not good for eb/pp as it TOR network.
Sometimes I forget to turn of my proxy before I log into my eb/pp, which is very bad.
I have a fix for this if anyone uses similar setup.
Its all automated. Here is a vbs script that does it.
Copy the text and save in a notepad file and rename the file extension to .vbs and run it.
Code:
Option Explicit
Dim valUserIn
Dim objShell, RegLocate
Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
RegLocate = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ProxyEnable"
objShell.RegWrite RegLocate,"0","REG_DWORD"
WScript.Quit
There are other variation of this.
As in you can turn your proxy on, have a yes/no button pop up to ask what you want to do, specify a specific proxy to use etc. Google it.
I chose the options above and below as its suitable for me.
So, for proper automation I incorporated the .vbs script into a.bat file.
I run the bat file whenever I want to log onto any of my eb/pp accounts.
I am using firefox portable but you can adjust the code to suit your needs.
My bat file code:
Code:
taskkill /f /im firefoxportable.exe /im firefox.exe
taskkill /f /im iexplore.exe
cscript %UserProfile%\Desktop\EBAYUK~1\disableproxyauto.vbs
start FirefoxPortable\FirefoxPortable.exe
taskkill /f /im conhost.exe
line 1 kills all instances firefox portable or installed version which is handy incase you forgot to log out of a previous eb/pp account (code thanks to empirestate)
line 2 kills all instances internet explorer (code thanks to empirestate)
line 3 starts my disableproxy vbs script
line 4 starts my firefox portable
line 5 kills the command prompt window so everything looks clean (code thanks to empirestate)
As mentioned, you can mess about with the codes to have it more suited to your setup. Google it.
I feel its worth taking the time to do it.
Makes life easier, fast and no more logging into eb/pp on the wrong proxy amongst other things.
I have an icon on my taskbar and objectdesktop pictures below using ie proxy changer.
Red is proxy off and green is proxy on - a handy visual for proxy status
The proxy program pictured above can be downloaded from makers site.
It only switches 1 proxy so if you are a multi proxy person, maybe the ie proxy changer is not for you
I use it just for a visual indicator of my proxy status.
