The first U.S. loss of life caused by H1N1 was a 23 month old Texas child.

Devastating news.

TMiles 04-29-2009 08:15 AM

Agreed, Green Bean....

Texas has had its first death, a 23 month old baby.

I should have not even used the word conspiracy. Maybe non-believers would have been a better choice of word.

Yes, the press seems much. But this press is saving lives. Any parent wants information. I am glad about school closings. Being a parent of a toddler myself in Texas, the more information to keep my child safe the better...

Over the last two weeks I haven't sold much of anything on ebay until yesterday my business has jumped back up to what it use to be. Then today in dawned on me.

People must be scared to leave the house or something. :behindsofa:

Anyone else seen an increase over the last couple days??

ebaykilla 05-01-2009 10:57 AM

gurusgrafx 05-01-2009 10:59 AM

gurusgrafx 05-01-2009 11:33 AM

Vicvelcro 05-01-2009 03:19 PM

I just had a double large pizza with double pepperoni and double mushrooms delivered. Just in case it gets as far as martial law.

I should be able to survive for 48 hours. If I can get a case of beer, I'll be good for 72 hours.

Lyda 05-01-2009 03:24 PM

Vicvelcro 05-01-2009 03:27 PM

Well, actually, I do use them. That's why I'm allowed to do the pizza and beer. I'm all good.

Swine flu has made it to my town. I live in a small town of about 45000. It's at my daughters school. I just hope it doesn't reach my house. Scarry!!

aspkin 05-23-2009 04:19 PM

Bah, The Swine!

It's summer, Swine Flu doesn't like the heat.

JohnnyBoy 05-23-2009 04:59 PM

Hmm, all we need next is fish flu.

aspkin 05-23-2009 05:02 PM

Lol... we can still eat them right? That's okay then, just no swimming. :)

JohnnyBoy 05-23-2009 05:52 PM

Glad there isnt a fish flu yet, I like seafood over all else. Crab, shrimp, flounder, catfish, trout, pretty much anything from the water. :bounce:

Mad cow: Beef
Avian flu: Birds
Swine: Pork

Probably gonna be cat/dog flu next

Lyda 05-23-2009 07:40 PM

Where I am, no Swine Flue yet, thank God! But even if this string dyes soon, experts worry that it can come back in fall/winter and much more potent. Last I heard there would be a vaccine made by July, but they were not sure...:noidea:

GENEVA (Reuters) - The World Health Organization declared the first flu pandemic of the 21st century on Thursday, urging countries to shore up defenses against the virus which is "not stoppable" but has proved mainly mild so far.

The United Nations agency raised its pandemic flu alert to phase 6 on a six-point scale, indicating the first influenza pandemic since 1968 is under way.

"This is a very important and challenging day for all of us. It is important because we will be raising our pandemic alert level to level 6," WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan told reporters on a teleconference.

"At this time, the global assessment is that we are seeing a moderate pandemic."
