What is the Best Country to Host a Server to remain Anonymous?

Does anyone have an idea of what country would be the safest location to host a Server? Not so good relations with the U.S., and values internet privacy.

I plan on running a VPN on it too to use for downloading and for Kodi to avoid geo-blocking so keep that in mind.

Google repeatably says Switzerland, but I'm not sold yet.

I read an article a few months ago comparing the privacy laws of various countries as they relate to VPN usage. Specifically a VPN->Tor privacy discussion but I can't seem to find it now.

I recommend Switzerland or Spain if you're primarily going to be sharing files/streaming since those are two countries I know of where such activity is legal. I've heard the Swiss have some sort of intelligence sharing agreement with the US Gov't though.

From the little I've read so far it seems these two country's are the way to go with streaming and sharing being legal.

I would have thought a poorer country... but I can imagine that could have its own problems with some type of possible extortion or lack of security.

Swiss VPS's aren't cheap. The best I could find was $32 a year.

Yeah I was thinking that sounded like a pretty decent price, lol.

But I've never priced VPS's in any country. What's the norm? If Swiss are higher it's probably because of the privacy factor.

I'm use to paying around $10... no more than $15 a year for VPS here in the U.S.

And I looked of hours before I found that price ($32). Well... Actually it was 32CHF so it was more like $36USD

As you can see though... I don't need much.

I usually only get half that Disk Space and Bandwidth but I couldn't find anything smaller or cheaper.

I've realized DNS is rather difficult to get right in Europe. Google and OpenDNS seem to like to give you NameServers in Germany or Netherlands.

It took me a while but I got it right.
