You are not secured from death, everybody will die soon or later, it's illusion to think otherwise. But the good side of that you are not the body, you are spiritual soul and you'll get another body after death, your future body depends on your current behaviour and desires. Ideally it's to develop spiritual consciousness and get back to reality.
In regards the end of the world, Srimad Bhagavatam says we are in Kali Yuga age which will end in 427K years. So don't worry you will not see the end of Kali in this age, but you might see nuclear war.

There must be a huge flood at one time,could be the Biblical flood,as many cultures talk about flood ,the Chinese said at first the world is all pitch dark and Pan Gu used a hammer to open up the sky and the earth.
The Mayan or the Aztec said it was water everywhere and then comes a dragon or a snake and the world is restored.
The Sumerian said there were 7 men and woman after the flood which help their king to restore civilisation.
The Japanese also have 7 men and woman who help ,they are all in a happy boat,carrying fish,wine barrel,hammer etc
The Chines have 8 ,7 men and women beside Lao tse crossing the ocean/
Of course there is this NoAH Ark business in the Bible.
And the Egyptian GIZza PYRAMID is situated right in the middle of the Northern hemisphere,if there is ever a flood ,it will be the first to emerge when the water rescind.you will be able to spot the tip of the pyramid from the sky/
The Indian has one as well,a king in western India,found a small fish in his cup and the fish said to him,dont throw me back into the ocean, I wont make it,keep me around until I am big enough to survive and I will pay you back.
Then comes the flood,the King built a boat carrying all the seeds from India,fish came and tow the boat and throw the ropes around the tip of the Himalayan mountain,when the water rescind,the survivors walked downhil and use the seeds to grow food etc.
there is an area at the foot of the Himalaya where folks grow veggies which are not native to the local habitat.

when major catastrophe hit,many will die as there are more people who engage in profession which does not produce food,extract minerals,there is not enough to feed billions of people.
We dont need lawyers,bankers,beautician,mortician,astrologer,co urt jester,movie actors,psychiatrist,TV show hosts

Cool to see how influential water was on older cultures. Chinese with the biggest fleet, Egyptians and Aztecs master irrigation engineers. Without water there's no life.

200,000yrs ago humans were smashing rocks together. We've got particle accelerators now and smash particles together. We havent changed much.

iF the sun does not shine,they get nervous and start sacrificing human ?
Some said at one time,we are closer to the Moon than the SUN?
