$1900 iPad pro
 

Ok, this is getting rather over my head... a $1900 iPad pro... really?

And a $1500 iPhone XS max?

How the heck can we justify that extremely high cost?

Who knows? People will buy it just because it's Apple.

I paid Apple $2400 for a Macbook a decade ago, and I was happy with that purchase. No way I would pay over $500 for a phone though. They aren't that useful to me.

EDIT: Really, I couldn't see myself spending more than $200 on a phone of any kind ever

It's the only way they can grow as a business, to sell higher ticket goods. They are the first trillion dollar company on the stock market. They have a loyal customer base that return to buy their products. If the price didn't go up, the company wouldn't be bringing in more and more money. That would in turn cause a dip in revenue, which in turn will cause the value of their company to spiral down.

I thought the iPhone X was priced outrageously, and nobody would buy it, and it would fail, I was wrong. Most people who own an iPhone seem to have gone and bought it.

I foresee prices rising even higher, and eventually people taking out finance to pay for these products, like cars and homes. It's become a necessity (and obsession) for many.

I pretty much agree with you, all phones do the same thing, so why get the most expensive?

I'm not an iPhone user, but I cant fault them. Lets be frank, their iOS is so simple to use, every age group has grown accustom to it.

Then you have a level of built in security, others don't quite have. Albeit its more closed off as a result.

I think iPhone's will stick around for a while, that's until another OS can do what it does, the way it does it. That's very unlikely to come about any time soon. You need brand trust, and they have it.

performance per dollar... I'm not impressed. A Pixel or Oneplus puts them to shame for half the cost

Completely agree with you. But the average consumer wants everything else. iPhone seems to be offering just that.

I think it's more "social status" than anything. Peole don't give a phuck about specs or performance per dollar. they want that little apple logo on the back of their phone.

Apple logo is a status symbol. I'd buy the crappiest windows laptop before I buy an i pad.

Apple logo plus the fact that most people do not back up their data and when the newest model comes out and bricks the crap out of last years models phones and tablets they have no choice

Don't forget the monthly leasing plans. Tons of people do that and that's how they justify the price. $1,000+ up front sounds bad, but $50/month isn't.

Remember, most people don't know how to use their brains anyways, might as well brainwash them and make billions...now trillions in AAPL's case.

Yeah, the price is definitely too high. It sounds crazy to pay 2000$ for a phone or tablet. That's actually a lot of money ! I think that it's not the best way to spend this amount of money. That's why I am never going to buy an iPad or iPhone. I think that it's much better to simply rent the needed device for a period, it's much cheaper and more effective. I have recently rented an iPad and a stand for it from ubookrental.com, and I am very satisfied. I think that it was the correct decision!

EDIT:

I find Samsung to be the real deal, I got an Galaxy A50 for 280€, the device is solid as f**k, has a 6.4" screen and works like a charm.

I have no freaking idea why would any person spend up to 1500$ on a smartphone.... Ooh yeah, bragging :deadhorse:
