I think a lot of Americans underestimate how influential Hollywood is on an international level. I learned English from two sources, these were American movies and high school English books. I have rarely spoken English with anybody in the real world though. My use of the language is exclusively online.
During my teenage years I was obsessed about immigrating to the US, I even applied for a US visa and got one, but ended up not going. American news and political discussions are way vibrant and brilliant in my opinion. Try living in Europe for a couple years and you will be stunned by how dry and boring everything is. |
