| we caught some tadpoles and put them in a large fishtank, and some grew legs and became nearly frogs, and we put in the right pond weed and stuff for them to eat, and guess what, I got up one morning and 2 tiny frog skeletons where floating picked clean of meat, and the other ones must have ate them....ugh and I had to get them out quick, which was so ugh, as I could hear the kids thumping down stairs to see them, and I lied and said they escaped and I would look for them but they would be fine, and later I said they got put in garden as they werent happy there and they did not really buy the story but anyway they forgot about it....anyway the rest of the tadpoles did not develop which I guess was good since they were cannibals... |

Had 6 frogs in a tank when I was younger. Went out to catch more and came back there were 5. One frog swallowed another and they were all about the same size.. finally figured it out when I saw one had a finger hanging out its' mouth O.O |

Just want to report my frog is alive and well in my backyard,been croaking,so he must like my backyard,behind us is a receiving pond,when it rains,it holds water and birds come to feast on ?????
Should I buy another one?how do I know if it is the opposite sex?
And what about a turtle? |

Determining the sex of a frog is rather complex.
Mostly, the female is bigger than the male. (They bear the eggs).
Both male and female have a disc called the tympanum covering their ears. For the lads, their disc is bigger than their eye. Tbe gals’ disc is equal to their eye size.
I reckon you should maybe find out which species of frog the market sells. Then go from there? Did I tell you I love frogs.

thanks,yes,You told me you like frogs,they are cute.
They sell them in supermarket,many in one big tub,I doubt anyone knows how to tell the sex,but will ask.
They are farm raised,but will ask what kind are they,they are pretty big and all green. |

| the receiving pond gathers all the rain water from the area but it drains or soak up all the water in a day or two.
Never see any frog but snakes and turtles and fish,but the birds are looking,there must be frogs / |

Most frogs I see around here are small ones,all green 2 inches ,toads are bigger.
We also have plenty of green geckos,one per tree,they love tall plants with broad leaves |

| Bout same. One in the pit could fit on a silver dollar. What it ate I have no idea. Maybe a temporary residence and it literally croaked. Geckos are fiesty right? One I had would eat, sleep and bite - lol. |

Gecko bites have the potential to hurt and harm.
The bigger the gecko the more horrible the bite.
Should you come across a gecko in the wild, then the harm of a bite increases because of the probability there are nasty pathogens in the mouth of the biting critter.

One ugly bull frog !
These geckos are feisty,they hunt at night and come back to sleep during the day.
They love fig trees,broad leaves are good for hiding. |
