Default Potential for Spyware trouble?

So I stumbled upon this website (www.spytox.com), which is kind of a whitepages directory where you could look up people, Telefone numbers...etc

For the sake of giving it a shot I went ahead and looked up someone by their name, the site started loading and giving the impression that a report is being prepared... and then nothing showed up.

I simply typed a name and clicked search... then clicked yes and no on some popups along the way, but it was kinda eerie that nothing showed up later.

I am kinda worried that some kind of mal/spyware was planted into my browser by visiting that site and interacting with its content.

Main worry for sure is my eBay account. I don't want it being hacked

I am going to activate 2-step verification tomorrow with a new phone number just in case...

I looked up the website and it is barely mentioned online. Saw some reports about scamming potential...etc and nothing seems to be worrying in that regard.

What smells fishy about it and many other sites like it is that they could be operated from China

Any thoughts about this? Do you think I should consider cleaning house by formatting the device?

Most of these "finder" or "lookup" sites are very misleading or outright scams.

They trick you into believing that a "search" is being conducted with fancy eye candy, graphics, etc, complete with a "status bar". After several seconds (or minutes) of waiting you are then redirected to a payment site, or some of the info is redacted or blanked out unless you pay, pay, pay...

This Spytox thing looks like it's only an APP, not a website. Sorry, but apps such as this have other dangers associated with them. Unless this service has a web version, I'm not interested due to privacy concerns. Apps can have far more access on your mobile device than you realize.

The very best sites to dig public information are not well known, and are typically used by PI's augmented with paid sources of such data.

What a coincidence man! That reminded me of the Joe Rogan #911 podcast.
