Re: Facebook says it removed 3.2B ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts in 6 months
Commercial and Social Media sites are under ever increasing scrutiny from the US Federal Govt, and Congress. They are now taking much more diligent steps to ensure accounts are real people, especially after the Election/Russian scandal involving the 2016 presidential election.
Mark Zukerburg has already been called to Congress several times to answer these questions, and lawmakers are more fed up. In short, if sites like Facebook don't secure their sites, then laws and more draconian measures will be passed to force them to comply.
Perhaps the day will come where you won't be able to get an account on social media without passing an identity verification similar to what a bank would do. If you think this is farfetched, consider that regulators in some countries are already looking into this possibility.
