Being new I have been in a familiarisation mode for the last few days. Could anyone give an explanation on the criteria for the activity stats.

Referrals aren't used here from what I gather.

Certain vbulletin forums are invite only, others reward users for inviting new members to the forum. Registration is open to anybody here and there's no incentive for inviting others, so the "referrals" stat you see on your profile is irrelevant. Just a vbulletin thing that aspkin isn't using.
