Re: Bezos ordered to testify as Amazon accused of false statements on business practi
The lawyer who made a statement on Amazon's behalf that 3rd party sellers' data is not used when Amazon launches its own private label products simply lied.
We all know it's bull*it, not only they use data to put 3rd party sellers at a disadvantage, but they've also tweaked their search algorithm to favor their own products.
I don't see Amazon being broken up into smaller companies because that would hinder the functionality of the marketplace. However, I can see Amazon being banned from competing with its own sellers by selling its own products. They are a marketplace operator and as such they have the luxury of exclusive access to sales data.
The least outcome I see coming out of this is Amazon won't be favoring its own products in search anymore and let them be ranked and treated as if they were listed by 3rd party sellers (which is a huge win for all of us).
