Default Salty competitors

How do you deal with them ? just ignore ?

I had a jealous competitor send a few messages, he sells in the same category on ebay. It's obvious he doesn't have multiple accounts to sell on and that's what triggered him as many of my items are scattered across multiple accounts thus generating more sales than him. I have just been ignoring him but tempted to respond but I know that will only escalate matters and I like to remain professional for the sake of my business. Face to face it would be an entirely different matter.

Just ignore it

Things only escalate if you reply

You never quite know what your competitors are capable at doing. SOMETIMES a professional reply helps cool a situation or creates a friend or wholesale buyers and sometimes you have them attacking your accounts. Every once in a while, ignoring someone does the same thing though.
This past year I failed to block someone who sent such messages across all accounts. I then had a slew of buyer returns and it was that douche canoe with typed return reason that I failed to reply to their messages.

You never know with people. Good Luck!

Yep that's true

I have ended up in the past working with someone that was competition but his initial messages were not all that aggressive so worked out in the end

Most the time I have ignored them... but play it by ear

there are two ways to deal with competitors , either do not reply at all if you think they wish you ill or if they have any business propositions you would need to communicate with them outside of ebay

these are your rights:

anything you say on ebay can be used against you (once read by ebay)

I had a competitor threatening me with legal action because I used to sell as a private person instead of a registered business. I did not reply. In the end the guy just did nothing and probably moved on to some other more prominent competitors. My account is still live and well.
