Default acne treatment

might be a hormone thing after having evil mini-me, but Ive been zitty for few months now, and its not due to poor hygiene with make-up and stuff, Ive been using over the counter products, no use, just get one lot cleared and another lot come along, i can feel the heat in them, horrid...

I dont want to take tablets, want something topical, anyone tried retinoids or topical anti-biotics? side-effects? work?
Ive just started putting tea tree oil on before bed

help Im looking like Freddy kruger - not that bad, friends described it as mild acne but worse than usual odd pimple..

Post pregnancy acne will last for some months. Once your hormones settle, the acne will as well. Worrying about this is stressful & cause more zits. (vicious circle). Depending on how my mini-me gets her nutrition will give you the answer to those two treatments. (Please note how delicate & sensitive I am being). Right now tea-tree oil is a bit strong for your skin. It's an astringent. Not what your skin needs at all. Don't be fiddling at home with your skin
If you can wear only a minimum amount of makeup. Don't be clogging your pores even though it's top of the line stuff
If you are feeling 'heat' then try some greek natural yogurt (probiotic type) with little apple cider vinegar. Make a little paste of these. Gently daub this on your face. Let it soak in, then remove with cotton ball gently warmed with water. Just stroke it off and try not to disturb the top layer of skin.

See me in my rooms with a bottle of champers in 3 weeks AND mini-me

I just bought some Tamanu Oil last week. I just started using it on my Girlfriend for her acne problems that is on her forehead and back. It's too early to tell you if it works though. You should read up on it if you want natural stuff.

I hear it's good for a lot of other stuff and not just acne.

Tamanu Oil is excellent. Quite different to Tea Tree oil in that it is not astringent, soothes 'hurt' skin quickly. Not greasy & quickly assimilated when put on the skin. If you get insect bites, chaffing, it works well. Good call, BooMer

Im wearing really thick make-up over it, I cant go out without it, no way...whats worse is the dryness, Im not using moisturiser anymore and Ive got flaky bits that I pick at, and added to foundation makes me look like Im mumified, I can see people looking at it when they talk to me, NOT HAPPY. ...my dad got adult acne type thing, on his nose and cheeks after forty, Im younger than that, but I look like him, feeling its genetic...he takes tablets, but I wont take anti biotics, I read tea tree was being tried for anti bacterial properties online for acne on forums...I will try tamanu, wont it block pores though? does an astringent dry it out which causes more oil to be produced? my skins not oily at all in fact its always been dry to normal.....

..yes I have been fiddling at home GB, but its upsetting me..really alot, I socialise quite a bit in the yummy mummy circle (stop laughing) and Im feeling really bad to look at..Mini has been on the bottle since January..

burning did your cream work, was it retinoid or antibiotic? what was it called?

Dust of a boy cow. Heavy makeup will just make it worse. Picking the zits will scar your face and make it worse.

If you are not breastfeeding then you can have either of those items you said. If you are, then double check with the chemist/doctor . Make a choice of one thing to do before you make your face well messy

Ooompa, why are you so much against antibiotics if you not breast feeding? My son had the same problem, tried everything for yeeeeears and nothing worked until he took the meds. His face is clear now, but even that took months to happen.....

anti biotics are bad for the gut, it kills all the good bacteria, suppose I could take supplements to counteract it...

Lyda, did your son get better after one use or did he have to carry on for years with it, If you stop using the product doesnt the acne come back??

There is very strong evidence to suggest both medical and personal experience that acne is related to the consumption of cow's milk, including cheese and cream.

You are drinking huge quantities of milk intended for a calf afterall, not exactly natural! The hormones in pregnant cows interfere with our own hormonal system. Our hormones are very active during our teenage years and of course, as your are aware around pregancy.

Try removing cow's milk and related foods from your diet for a month or two and see if it helps. If you are worried about your calcium levels, the amount of calcium in milk is one of those great marketing cons of the generations!

Better sources include sesame seeds and dark green vegetables. You could maybe also try goat's milk which has a cleaner taste and is very different to the stuff that was available years ago. There is of course good quality mozzarella and other cheeses from sheep and goats as an alternative.

Hope that helps!

I'm not sure what it was called. I had to go to a pharmacy and they put it in the little bottle thingy. It was a cream. The dermatologist did not mention to me the name but it is working. I strongly suggest you go to the dermatologist. It is covered in my insurance..

That boy-cow dust is about again. Right at the moment you should be taking probiotics to get your body in shape. You need to re-tune yourself.
Like bode said, triple-check your diet: adjust it.
Post-pregnancy acne does go...not overnight...

Ooompa, we tried everything with him and he was on real good diet, but acne would not go away...He went to see dermatologist and he prescribed antibiotics under supervised use, I know that.. Doctor wont make you take anything that can hurt you. Also, eat yogurt whenever taking antibiotics as it helps replenish good bacteria. Was married to MD for 20 years so I hope I learned something..lol.

My son lives in another state and I just tried to call him to ask him about it. He was taking Acutane or something with similar name, but under close doctors supervision. But of course, as usual my son's tel. number is not reachable now.. so I will catch up with him next week and let you know details.
I didn't see him the whole year because we leave like 600 miles apart, but boy did his face finally cleared and he's sooo handsome! (this coming from a mother, lol).

On the other hand, if this is something that has not been your problem for the most of your life, I think its not a bad idea to try diet and exercise first together with other natural remedies. You still can go and get proper consultation with good dermatologist in the mean time, wont hurt.. And, if you can, let your skin breathe, no make up...That stuff has all kinds of chemicals in it even if its Dior (my favorite) or Chanel....Just cheer up, won't be there forever.

I don't drink milk never and I have always had clean face, so maybe there is some truth to it... If they can just "invent" something against those little tiny wrinkles I started to notice, I'd be very happy...

I have mild acne. I tried almost anything
retina, benzol peroxide products, aloe products, salicylic acid products, anti biotic lotion, different cleansers, and etc. Nonething seems to work except anti biotic, the only main side effect was that my skin became more sensitive, and more prone to sun burn in the summer.

After my mild acne becomes clearer, I decreased my doses dramatically, like doctor prescribed 2x a day. I take maybe 3-4 a week at most.

I was on Roaccutane and it was fairly horrible, the acne returned years later but I was convinced it was related to something in my diet. Unfortunately this goes against the current thinking but doctors certainly don't have a cure and are happy to write prescriptions.

I removed Cow's milk and cheese completely, reading labels, looking for ingredients containing all the hidden cheese/ skimmed milk powder, cream, ice cream, yoghurt and cheese etc. Skin very clear. Introduced cheese into my diet and waited for the evidence.

I've done this quite a few times so I'm 100% positive in my case that cow's milk = acne. Do a google for the research, there is a ton of info on it.

I didn't bother to read every post so so sorry if this has been mentioned already. I'm glad someone asked this because I am now an expert no... a master at preventing and clearing acne.

Let me tell you a little story first. Since the age of 15 I had the worst cases of acne I've personally ever seen. It was all over even on my back. My face and neck was just literally covered with acne. I tried everything Proactive, antibiotics, microderbrasion, regular soap+diet+exercise, etc. EVERYTHING and nothing worked consistently.

When I turned 18 about 3 years ago I finally found the answer and cure. As of right now, I'm literally acne free thanks to this guy. There are still some minor scars, but nothing noticeable. Go here: acne.org and follow "The Regimen". If you follow it to the letter I guarantee you'll never worry about acne again.

I personally buy his products on the website just because it works so well, but if you don't or can't wait here are good alternatives you can get from places like CVS or Wal-Mart.

1. Neutrogena On-the-Spot (it's benzoyl peroxide)
2. Cetaphil facial cleanser
3. Cetaphil lotion

Wash your face with the facial cleanser, make sure your face is completely dry. Than apply the Neutrogena or benzoyl peroxide ALL over your face and affected areas make sure you use a good amount. After that dries than apply the lotion. Do this 2 times daily and in a month you will be clear especially if your acne is light. I might not have explained this the best and in full detail, but seriously go to acne.org and read "The Regimen" you won't be sorry.

i tried Proactiv and it worked for me. However, once the acne gone you should stop using it coz it will dry out the skin.

ooo, proactiv has some bad side effects - I dont want to take anything that strong until Ive tried all the softer stuff first...

the benzoyl seems to have helped. ive mixed it with neutrogena moisturising spot treatment..

yo burning, my problem is my face - you need something different for your arse, sorry
