Default diagnostics if cant fix car

issue someone I know is having probs with

garage cant fix car, should they get paid for diagnostics anyway?

they said they thought they could fix it, over the phone, said theyd seen it before, now they said they cant, needs to go to a main dealer ..but theyve wasted 3 days, when it could have gone straight to main dealer, asked them on phone before it went in, send it to main dealer or can you deal with it and they said they could.....

they are saying they will charge for diagnostics......

Most garages don't charge for this, at least the garages I go to. They only charge if they fix it..

Though they had it for three days.. most likely working hard to try and fix the issue.. it's a ****ty deal they can't fix it, hopefully they don't charge you too much.

The last one I went to didn't.. they were checking some shocks which I decided I didn't want to replace, and actually put things back together better then before solving my problem.

Maybe I got lucky.

I think when they hook it up to the diagnostic machine then there's a charge or they charge for thier time trying to figure out what's wrong with it or for "trying" to fix it. Bottom line you will be charged.
