Does anyone know the best way to get a website started??

Pay someone to design it. I suggest website such as elance or odesk, where you can hire people from over seas to do your work. You make a listing and people bid for the work.

Start with buying a domain name from GoDaddy or NameCheap.

Then add hosting...

Then depending on the type of site you want to make, add the appropriate script to get the job done, for example a shopping cart.

Getting a site started is the easy part.. making it do something and make you money is where things become interesting.
