Mac vs PC

I have been thinking about getting a new computer, not sure of witch one I should get.

Also would like to know why you think one is better then the other.


I know nothing about mac, so I would also like to know witch mac is the best, laptop or desktop.

From our talks I would recommend you look at MACs. Their graphics are by far the most wonderful I have ever used. For gaming their speed rocks. (Unless you want to get a PC with a super speedy AMD chip.) Easy to use you have a choice of lappie or desktop. I'll get back to you with a combination of what I have

I'm still with PC because of Windows 7 (it's awesome) and because a lot of the software I use on a daily basis only runs on Windows.

I tried MAC, but I didn't like it very much. It's just a personally choice, I miss my right-click and resizing.

Aspkin - Thank you also for your respond. Do you have the ipad? I just would like to know if you have a mac if you can also use the apple apps that's for ipods/ipads/iphone

Wow...you got it completely wrong! Mac are the worst for gaming, it's not meant to be for gaming and never will be. Maybe for light gaming but I bet you that a mac will not be able to handle playing COD or Red Alert. Most computer forums don't even have a section for mac. In my opinion there over priced fancy computers. There simple to use and most people usually get it for there layout/design.

Most people get pc's due to the fact that they are upgradeable and parts are cheap. If your looking for a good and cheap project, I suggest you build your own pc. I'm building mine together and have bought almost all the parts in order to build one. All I need to do is go pick the parts up from USA and I'm ready to build it! My custom build will include an I7 processor, 1tb hard drive, an asus motherboard, 6gb of ram and other components. It cost me $600 -$700 combined for all the parts, but this was because all my parts are top of the line and I know what I'm putting in.

yes seriously. one of my buddies i used to game with got a mac book pro to bring with him to college..and it turned out that all year at college he couldn't game for crap so i never really saw him again after that..mac books aren't really good for anything except..maybe editing and studio work...other then that..regular daily stuff..PC all the way!!

I have an iPad / iPhone / iPod. I connect them to my PC for iTunes crap.

I don't have a MAC.

I'll have to admit, I like the iphone, ipod, itough and the ipad. All great inventions made by apple!

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair IV formula AM3 AMD 890 -$230
2 G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 -$120 each -$140
I have 2 WD 640 hard drives black

With out the video Card/case/fans/power supply the cost is $670

Intel Core cost a lot. the cheapest Intel Core i7 I seen was the 860 witch is around $280 the i7 975 is around $980 yes $980 for a processor.

Tried MAC never owned one and most likely never will...unless they take over the world.

PC is just too good. I hear Mac is good for artists? Whatever, PC is better in my opinion. It just feels right, every time I went on a Mac it felt funky.

i totally agree. lol. only used a mac in like graphic design and studio classes..still didnt really felt right..i still like using photoshop and stuff on PC alot better.

Nope, I made a budget pc and bought ALL my parts on ebay and on newegg. I bought parts on auction. I got my I7 920 Do Stepping for $210 on auction and I got my asus P6T motherboard for only $175. All of these major parts were bought from ebay. I bought 12gb of DDR3 ram for $250 but I'm splitting them up with my brother. Were splitting the cost in half for the ram, 6gb for each of us!

Your trying to build a super computer and that's not necessary due to your budget. Obviously the better the computer you build, the more expensive it will cost!

Building a computer is not as hard as many people believe it is, there are many tutorials and videos on youtube explaining how to do so.

Examples: HP, Dell, Sony, Toshiba, Acer, Gateway.. so on and so on...????

Each has its own positives....
I love Macintosh.
My 5 year old iMac took a lighting strike last week and let all its smoke out.
I went the next day and bought a new one.
I got a 27" 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 and I love it.

My Mac is for all of my everyday computer stuff.
I do own a few PC's but they ALL are dedicated Amazon/eBay machines.
The reason is that they are cheaper than Mac's.

Personally I would take a Mac over a PC any day.
But I have been working on them for about 15 years also.

if i were to choose a brand for PC i would go with either Asus or Toshiba
imho those two are the best brands right now...
mac's are all right..if i were forced to get a mac i would be then i would have windows XP installed on it :P

pfft, actually I play COD4 with my MAC and several other games. For the amount of time I play I am well happy . It suits my purposes. Notice I offered an alternative with my personal favorite chip, the mighty AMD. It's based on what I LIKE in the two machines

Choice of machine depends on the intended purpose. I build my own, designed for the exact job. Well, um, I do have one general-purpose unit.

If I were going to buy a PC prebuilt and mass-produced, it would be HP.

Typically, I go for a Gigabyte or Biostar board with AMD socket. The additional cards, drives, and other accessories will be specific to the task the unit will eventually be targeted for.

At one time MAC's had a CLEAR and Distinct Performance Advantage, Back in the days of the "G" Series chips. Those Chips though at the time did NOT run as fast MHz wise, (Yes MHz, NOT GHz) Their Computional Power was STAGGERING, Nearly 10 times that of the BEST x86 (Intel, AMD) Processors, So even though they ran Slower, they executed almost 10 times the Number of Calculations. When the G4 Processor was introduced, in 1998 I think, The U.S. Goverment BANNED The chip for export because it was so Powerful, this Ban only lasted a short time because x86 chips also Kept advancing.

Back then the "G" Series chips could Only be found in MAC's, today they are Gone. Today the Best Mac's Sport Intel Processors, so now they are just like everyone else, (Power Wise) Which means that you can Always build a More PowerFul System than the best MAC's for less Money. So now you are paying More simply to use Apple Proprierty software, Which is More Hype than Anything else.

So Im My Opinion, Today, Performance wise PC is the Way to go, Also Microsoft Got It Right with Windows 7--It Rocks---
