Default On my third mouse in as many months...

I hate the touch pads on all laptops so I always have a wireless mouse to use, I buy ones anywhere between 1500 and 2000 dpi. I've got through three in the last three months and these aren't the cheap ones. The first one I dropped and the accuracy of the pointer and reliability of the clicks sharply declined. Bought a new one, again started out fine then after 3-4 weeks the pointer and clicks were totally unreliable, changed batteries and tried cleaning the infra red and it didn't make any difference. Bought a new one and sure enough it's losing it's touch. I'm wondering if there's anything I'm doing wrong, or anything I can do to fix them or make them last longer like any maintenance or cleaning that needs doing.

Arggh, are you using microsoft? If you dont have the correct drivers installed, the mouse can appear to die. (Signal not being recognised or summat). I've got this URL as I had the same troubles, including washing the mouse in coffee Maybe there's something there that can help you?

Yes I am using Microsoft. I wonder why it works when you first start using them and then goes down.

I bought a wireless Microsoft mouse from WalMart two years ago. Still works to this day. Works like a charm never had any problems with it. Dropped it countless times too.

I had a rash of mice going out on me a couple years back as well. For me it turned out to be a funky USB port. Not quit sure what or why it was causing the trouble. But once I stopped using that port all was groovy

Yes I've found that some ports can be the problem sometimes.
